Here is what happens with Ruby in Secrets We Keep?
The night before she went missing, Ruby confided in Cecilie, a neighbor and Katarina's close friend, expressing her desire to leave the Hoffman household and seek help. However, Cecilie chose not to get involved and advised Ruby to speak with Katarina directly, not wanting to jeopardize her social ties with the influential Hoffman family.
Ruby cried for help in vain, causing Cecilie to spiral as she feared Ruby was in danger. By the time Cecilie processed this, Ruby was already missing. Cecilie recalls seeing her throw something in the dustbin, and upon checking, finds a positive pregnancy test. This leads her to suspect that Rasmus raped Ruby or that her family harmed or kidnapped her to cover the case.
Later in the show, Hoffmann's behavior raises red flags, deepening Cecilie's suspicion. Rasmus and Katarina fail to report her missing and act as if nothing happened. Rasmus, noticing Cecilie's suspicion, pressures her husband, Mike, to control her. This leads Cecilie to suspect Mike after he makes a racist comment about Ruby. Cecilie emphasizes that, despite being an au pair, she is still human.
Ruby's body is later found floating on the river in Secrets We Keep

When Ruby's body was found, it was revealed that she was pregnant, amplifying Cecilie's guilt for not preventing the situation to maintain social ties. Mike's DNA tested clean, while Rasmus's test revealed that Oscar, his son, raped Ruby. Oscar is not mentally fine and exhibits problematic sexual behavior. He also installed a secret camera in Ruby's room and recorded when he forced himself upon her.
But who is responsible for Ruby's death? Season 1 doesn't fully resolve this question, but it seems that Katarina might do so to protect her son. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
