What happens to Ali in A Thousand Tomorrows' finale?

In A Thousand Tomorrows, Ali is portrayed as a resilient character who has seen her sister Anna die young because of cystic fibrosis. Since then, she has always had a desire to live a life without regrets. Rodeo wasn't just a sport for her, but resembled freedom, as the sport is everything the illness threatens to take away.
When she is diagnosed with the terminal illness initially, she keeps it a secret from most people in the rodeo circuit. Through Cody, Ali finds someone who respects both her limits and her need for freedom.
In the finale of A Thousand Tomorrows, Ali Daniels fights with the illness for the last time. She goes for a lung transplant, which initially improves her situation, but tragically, her disease resurfaces in her new lungs. She heroically competes in the barrel racing tournament, fulfilling her dreams, while her health deteriorates. At the end, she contracts pneumonia and despite her determination, she is unable to recover and dies by he end of the show.
During her final moments, she chooses to compete in the tournament despite the risks. Knowing she won't live more than three years, she decides to run the race now, as she would be bedridden later on.
How does Ali's death impact Cody in A Thousand Tomorrows?
As Ali's end nears, she bids goodbye to Cody and describes how her time with him was concentrated, though brief, and truly mattered to her. She offers him her legacy, her horse Ace. Her passing deeply affects Cody Gunner, but he finds solace in her final wishes. She leaves behind a heartfelt letter for Cody, urging him not to blame god and find peace with reality.
Cody then returns to bull riding, inspired by Ali's spirit, and wins the championship. He decides to use the prize money to fulfil some of their shared dreams, like securing a future for his brother Carl.
