What happens to Choi Nam-ra in All of Us Are Dead? Character’s fate explored

Netflix's All of Us Are Dead is among the streaming platform's popular horror shows, which premiered in 2022. After introducing an unexpected twist at the end, the K-drama is set to return for Season 2. The series follows the story of a high school that becomes infected by zombies, leaving the surviving students fighting for their lives until help is provided.

With powerful narratives and performances, the K-drama also introduced new types of zombies. Among them, the most popular one is the 'Hambie', a zombie with the intelligence of a human. The addition of these variations of zombies makes them even more dangerous.

However, not all of them are shown to be dreadful and dangerous, as Choi Nam-ra, played by Cho Yi-hyun, is among the Hambies who did not lose her humanity after transforming into a zombie. In a tragic twist of fate, she was bitten by Gwi-nam, another Hambie, who tried to attack Su-hyeok. What happens to Choi Nam-ra in All of Us Are Dead? Character’s fate explored

Cho Yi-hyun's character Choi Nam-ra is introduced as a top student at Hyosan High School, who is also the class president in All of Us Are Dead. However, she is not considered one by her classmates, who think she got the position due to her mother's donation.

Nam-ra and Su-hyeok, another student of the class, became one of the favorite couples from the Netflix K-drama, whose early conversations were small and few compared to the other lead couple, but gradually grew on the viewers. At the beginning of the series, Nam-ra was seen as an aloof character, but after surviving various zombie encounters with her classmates, she became closer to them and gave us one of the iconic moments in Episode 3 of All os Us Are Dead, where she confronts Na-yeon and reveals that she purposely infected Gyeong-su.

However, since it's a zombie-apocalyptic series, there were several beloved characters that could not escape being bitten. Nam-ra is one of them. As the group tried to find a safe place for themselves and were fleeing from the zombies to the music room of their school, Su-hyeok was attacked by Gwi-nam, the school bully who had turned into a Hambie.

Nam-ra was the one wo went to save Su-hyeok from the Hambie, and as a result was bitten by him. While initially everyone, including herself, feared her transforming into a zombie, Nam-ra did not lose her human consciousness and fought the urge to bite her friends. While it was tragic, Nam-ra actually became quite helpful for the group in the end when she fought off Gwi-nam, who came to the roof to attack them.

She helped them in reaching the military checkpoint, but ran away due to her urges to eat humans increasing. At the end of Season 1, the group is shown to go to their high school, where they meet Nam-ra again and urge her to come with them, but she refuses.

It is assumed that Nam-ra had found more hambies like herself, the story of which might be explored in the upcoming season of All of Us Are Dead.
