Leery comes to inspect Dwight's operations in Tulsa King Season 3 episode 3. While the crew considers him to be an ordinary inspector, when Leery starts to meticulously note down the violations and mistakes in the industry abrasively, the crew and Dwight doubt that he is sent by their rivals, especially with a motive to find out reason to shut them down.

Things go haywire when Leery insists on seeing the barrel room where bourbon is ageing. Bigfoot and Goodie, under pressure, take him there, and once he goes inside, he starts to take note of things that aren't as per norms. He points out all the safety and sanitation violations, which are enough to shut down the distillery.

Leery also talks radically to Bigfoot, which pushes him over the edge. That is when Bigfoot destabilizes one of the stacked barrels with a motive to only scare Leery and make him stop investigating. However, a mishap occurs, and barrels start to collapse, brutally crushing Leery's head.

Goodie is shocked by the incident and rushes to check if he is still breathing, but his brain is splattered across the floor, suggesting zero chances of his survival. This incident is so graphic in Tulsa King that it shifts the tone of the show.

After some time, the scene is interrupted by Mitch, who then suggests portraying this as a workplace accident and nothing else. He tells everyone to say how Leery was inspecting in the dark and ended up getting himself crushed under the barrel.

Once the chaos dies down, Dwight reassures his crew that they’ll recover from the bad press and try again. But then, Goodie, Mitch, and Bigfoot quietly lead Dwight back to the barrel room to show him Leery’s corpse.

Eventually, Dwight also agrees with the plan of making it look like a workplace accident and instructs Bodhi that he needs to believe that he discovered the body later during his rounds. This is how the team decides to stay silent and claim that it was an accident and not murder.

The camera lingers on Leery’s bloodstained body as Dwight walks away, signalling that this “accident” will almost certainly come back to haunt them later in the season.
