Netflix recently released a Brazilian TV series, Rivers of Fate (originally titled Pssica), which took quite a short time to become popular among drama lovers. It features an emotional and dark tale with three main characters: Janalice, Preá, and Mariangel.
What's unique is that they aren't friends or know each other. Instead, they cross paths in very unexpected and tragic ways. Among the other key figures in Rivers of Fate is Luzia, who happens to be the missing elder sister of Miltinho, a young homeless boy who forms a close friendship with Janalice.
While Luzia isn't a main character, her story allows depth and connects storylines in the TV series. So, what exactly happened to her? Luzia went missing before the series kicked off, and she's the reason Miltinho decided to live on the streets.
He wanted to find his sister, and living on the streets could help him find clues because he doubted that Luzia had become a victim of human trafficking. Later, when Janalice was in trouble and held at a farm, she crossed paths with Luzia.
Keep reading to know who survived and who died among them.
Who is Luzia in Netflix's Brazilian series Rivers of Fate?

As previously mentioned, Luzia is a key figure in the Rivers of Fate TV series, who's mentioned right in the first episode titled "The Video". While walking around the area with her friend, Janalice meets a little boy named Miltinho.
Janalice's friend asks Miltinho to distract people so that she can steal the earrings she wants to gift. Janalice feels bad for him as she heard that Miltinho didn't want to take part in stealing, but he had no choice.
Janalice then decides to find Miltinho's sister by searching illegal websites. She doubted that Luzia might have been taken away for the dirty business. Later in Episode 2, "Nobody Vanishes Into Thin Air", Janalice finally meets Luzia.
She notices bruises on her body, whihc confirms that she has been assaulted. Janalice promises Luzia that she'll take her out of this Island where girls are trafficked. Luza feels good to meet someone who wants to be free from the monsters.
She even suggests that Janalice come with her and Miltinho to their village when they get out. Together, the two tried to escape but failed. Luzia is once again taken to an event, where she is sold for some thousand dollars.
Janalice's determination and Luzia's reunion with Miltinho in Rivers of Fate
With their small rebellion, Janalice and Luzia proved that they've formed solidarity for life. One of the most crucial moments of Luzia in Rivers of Fate comes in the last episode, "Not Fear- Anger", during Mayor Brazao’s birthday party.
Before the auction of the trafficked girls, Janalice ensured she and Luzia weren't drunk much and had the energy to fight back later. Thankfully, Janalice's plan worked well as Luzia was able to scream for help from one of the men who was about to assault her.
This is when Miltinho, who was nearby, finally arrives to rescue his elder sister. Thanks to Amadeu, who intervened and helped the siblings reunite. This is one of the most emotional parts of Rivers of Fate as the young boy finally gets his sister back, and now they're expected to find a safe place to live.
