What happens to White Dragon in Peacemaker Season 1? Character explored in details

HBO Max's black comedy superhero drama, Peacemaker Season 1, starring John Cena and Danielle Brooks, dropped on January 13, 2022. Created by James Gunn, the first season is a spin-off/ sequel of the 2021 superhero film The Suicide Squad. Peacemaker Season 1 features the aftermath of The Suicide Squad, including Peacemaker's recovery and the subsequent events that unfold after he joins A.R.G.U.S.; a Project Butterfly squad whose goal is to eliminate butterfly-like creatures from humans.

Among the villains that Christopher Smith, also known as Peacemaker, faced in Season 1, one of the most dangerous was his father, August Ransom Smith, aka the White Dragon. He's an abusive and horrible racist father of the Smith brothers- Christopher and Keith. After Keith's death at the hands of Christopher during a fight organized by Auggie, their father-son relationship reached rock bottom. Since then, Auggie blamed Chris for Keith's death. He weaponized the guilt, using it to control and belittle Peacemaker at every move.

In Peacemaker Season 1 Episode 7, Peacemaker was finally able to confront his toxic father and stated that it was Auggie's fault that Keith died. He repeatedly punched the White Dragon and said,

"You killed my brother. You killed Keith."

During the confrontation, Peacemaker eventually shot his father in the head with a Luger pistol, and that's how the White Dragon died in Peacemaker Season 1. However, what's interesting is that in the finale episode of Peacemaker Season 1, Chris began to hallucinate his father in the forests; proof that emotional scars are hard to heal.

Who plays the White Dragon in Peacemaker Season 1?

Auggie Smith, aka the White Dragon, was played by Robert Patrick in Peacemaker Season 1. His performance gives the role a chilling realism. He plays Auggie as both terrifying and eerily calm, making every scene with him feel dangerous. The armor, with its sharp white plating and red accents, becomes a visual symbol of his extremist beliefs.

Robert Hammond Patrick needs no introduction. Best known for his roles in The X-Files, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, The Fix, Patrick, ace villain and authoritative roles.

White Dragon's arc in Peacemaker Season 1 is not about a villain being defeated. It's about confronting the source of trauma and personal pain. By the finale, Peacemaker isn't fully healed, but he's taken the hardest step-confronting the person who hurt him the most.

Is the White Dragon a part of Peacemaker Season 2?

Despite his death in the first season, Auggie Smith, aka the White Dragon, will be back for Peacemaker Season 2. However, the context of his return remains under wraps as of now. Additionally, he's in a different suit, and this time it's blue and white, suggesting a parallel or alternate dimension.

James Gunn took to X to announce the return of Peacemaker Season 2. He captioned the post,

"Can't wait for you guys to see what’s in store. Season 2 of #Peacemaker premieres August 21 on @StreamOnMax" @DCpeacemaker
