AMC has officially announced that Interview with the Vampire Season 3 is in production. Based on Anne Rice's bestselling novels, the show initially aired in 2022 as part of AMC's growing Immortal Universe. The series follows the complex and frequently tragic bond between two vampires—Lestat de Lioncourt and Louis de Pointe du Lac—across continents and decades.
Season 2 concluded more than a year ago, and fans waited for when they could go back to the realm of blood, deceit, and immortality. AMC has now given new releases, including a behind-the-scenes picture and significant clues regarding the next story. New characters and spin-offs are also on the cards, and the Immortal Universe is expanding.
Here's what we know so far about Interview with the Vampire Season 3.
Filming has commenced officially
Interview with the Vampire Season 3 has commenced filming officially. AMC shared a photo on social media of a Les Paul guitar, a clapboard, and an amplifier, labeled:
"Production has begun. #InterviewWithTheVampire."
This is in line with previous announcements that shooting would commence in mid-2025. Although there is no premiere date in place yet, the network did release a statement saying that the third season will be released sometime in 2026. Audiences can look forward to more emphasis on lavish visuals, period drama, and the developing chemistry between Lestat and Louis.
Interview with the Vampire Season 3 will be based on Lestat's rockstar years
AMC's newest teaser would indicate that Interview with the Vampire Season 3 will take its inspiration from the part of Anne Rice's novels where Lestat turns into a rockstar. In the novels, Lestat reinvents himself during the 1980s as a band member and reveals the existence of vampires to the world through music and celebrity.
The guitar imagery in the photo of production is consistent with this narrative. This change would allow fans to experience a contemporary environment, as opposed to the period drama atmosphere the earlier seasons had. It also brings with it new themes of fame, public persona, and the dangers of coming out with a vampire's presence.
Sam Reid is set to reprise his role as Lestat, the flamboyant and dangerous vampire who continues to be at the heart of the show. Jacob Anderson will also be back as Louis, whose complicated dynamic with Lestat has been a key element in the show's emotional stakes.
New character and returning cast members
There is a possibility of new characters joining in Season 3 like Lestat's maker (Magnus), Lestat's mother (Gabrielle), Ancient vampire named Marius, Enkil and Akasha. Who will be casted for these roles has not yet been officially revealed by AMC.
Season 3 will also include recurring cast members Christopher Geary, Justin Kirk, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Gopal Divan and Joseph Potter. These new characters and casting hints that the series will introduce fresh narratives as well as maybe extend its world beyond Louis and Lestat's original two.
Spin-offs and the future of Immortal Universe
Interview with the Vampires is only one component of AMC's expanding Immortal Universe, adapted from Anne Rice's novels. To go along with the forthcoming third season, a new series called The Talamasca: The Secret Order is in development.
The Talamasca is a hidden society whose task is to observe supernatural creatures, such as vampires and witches. The organization has previously been covered in both Interview with the Vampires and Mayfair Witches, another AMC show founded on Rice's novels.
AMC has confirmed that The Talamasca will premiere in October 2025, although no release date has yet been announced. In the meantime, Mayfair Witches has also been renewed for a third season.
With several series in production, AMC is trying to create an interlinked universe similar to the Marvel or Star Wars franchises—but gothic, supernatural in flavor.
Where to watch and what's next
Those who wish to get up to speed on the series can watch both Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches now on AMC+. Season 3 of Interview with the Vampire won't air until 2026, but new material from the Immortal Universe will be hitting the shelves sooner through other shows such as The Talamasca.
With production in progress and plot details being leaked, additional teasers and clips from Season 3 are imminent in the next few months.
Interview with the Vampire Season 3 is currently being shot and will air in 2026.
