What is the plot of Unspeakable Sins? All about the Mexican series topping the Netflix streaming charts

Unspeakable Sins has all the elements to make the perfect concoction for a thriller drama series, complete with s*x, betrayal, revenge, and some shocking secrets. The Spanish-language series on Netflix has been climbing the Top 10 charts since its premiere on July 30, 2025.

The steamy series follows the story of Helena Rivas (played by Zuria Vega), who is having an affair with a young escort. They decide to seek revenge against her domineering husband, but things spiral out of their control when he goes missing. Scandalous secrets come to light, which puts her and her loved ones in an unforeseen predicament.

Unspeakable Sins or Pecados Inconfesables was created by Leticia López Margalli and Guillermo Ríos. Season 1 of the Netflix telenovela, which comprises 18 episodes, is set in Mexico. The series also stars Andrés Baida as Iván, Erik Hayser as Claudio Martínez, Manuel Masalva as Octavio, and Ana Sofía Gatica as Livia.

What is the plot?

Netflix’s Unspeakable Sins follows the story of Helena, who meets Iván, an escort, through a dating app. The two end up having a steamy affair for months, and they slowly fall in love with each other.

Meanwhile, Helena is trying to get away from her abusive husband, Claudio, a powerful and wealthy businessman. She fails to escape the marriage as Claudio threatens her and her teenage son, Fer (played by Sebastian Garcia), who is recovering from drug addiction.

Iván learns about Helena’s difficult circumstances and offers to help her. They come up with a plan wherein Iván would seduce Claudio, who often has affairs with younger men. They decide to record his advances with a hidden camera. Helena intends to use it as evidence to file for divorce and escape with her son. The plan appears fail-safe and even starts without any glitch. However, things quickly turn chaotic when Iván challenges Claudio's advances, and at the same time, Fer decides to kill Claudio.

In all the hullabaloo, Claudio goes missing, and suddenly everyone starts scrambling for answers. Helena and Iván’s affair comes to light, and Iván becomes a suspect. Claudio’s adult children from a previous marriage, Octavio and Livia, also get involved in the case as the police start to unravel the many shocking secrets behind the scenes of the rich and powerful in Mexico. Helena is struggling to keep Fer from falling off the wagon while trying to salvage her love life with Iván.

While the search for Claudio becomes the focal point, we also learn that Helena and Iván have their own secrets. Is Helena just a woman caught in a toxic marriage, or is she really a villain hiding in plain sight? With complex relationships, intertwined with the high-stakes scandal, Unspeakable Sins becomes a compelling watch for those seeking a suspense and seduction-filled series.
