Amazon Prime Video is expanding its Reacher universe with a spinoff centered on Frances Neagley, a character who has stood out as Jack Reacher’s trusted ally. Titled Neagley, the series will bring Maria Sten back to the role, diving into the character’s life beyond the shadow of Reacher.

Neagley, a former member of the Military Police’s 110th Special Investigators, will take the lead in her own story, navigating the dangerous streets of Chicago as a private investigator. The plot kicks off when Neagley learns of a friend’s suspicious death and becomes determined to find the truth, using the skills she honed during her time with Reacher.

The series will also introduce new characters, including Detective Hudson Riley (played by Greyston Holt), Keno (Jasper Jones), Renee (Adeline Rudolph), Pierce Woodrow (Matthew Del Negro), and Lawrence Cole (Damon Herriman).

With Reacher creator Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton at the helm, along with Lee Child as an executive producer, Neagley is set to bring more of the action and grit that fans expect. Filming started in late February 2025, and while there's no official release date, author Lee Child hinted it could premiere by the end of 2025.

Amazon Prime Video's Reacher spinoff is moving fast, with the release window looking surprisingly close. While the official release date hasn’t been announced, Jack Reacher author Lee Child hinted that the series could hit screens by the end of 2025.

During an interview with Business Insider on March 6, 2025, Child shared his optimism about the timeline, saying, “They start shooting very soon, as a matter of fact! And I think I’ve seen the screenplays, I think it’s going to be excellent, just as good as Reacher, really. So, you know, with a bit of luck, the Reacher-verse will dominate the year on Amazon Prime both ends of it.”

The spinoff was officially announced in October 2024, following the strong reception of Reacher Season 3.

Amazon wasted no time in getting things moving, and filming began on February 25, 2025. Maria Sten, who plays Frances Neagley, confirmed the production start through an Instagram post, showing the crew already hard at work.

This quick turnaround indicates Amazon's confidence in the Reacher franchise and their eagerness to keep the momentum going.

In another interview with Business Insider on March 7, 2025, Lee Child doubled down on the likelihood of a late 2025 release.

He emphasized the fast-paced production schedule, saying, "With a bit of luck, the Reacher-verse will dominate the year on Amazon Prime both ends of it."

This comment not only underlined his enthusiasm for Neagley but also suggested that Amazon is planning a packed year for Reacher fans, possibly bookending 2025 with Reacher Season 4 and the spinoff.

Maria Sten also spoke to Business Insider about how Reacher Season 3 is setting the stage for Neagley.

She explained, “When we first meet her, I think she’s still sort of a stray dog, out of the military and finding her way in the world. Then, coming into season two, she definitely found her way in the world, at least in her professional life. I think season three is more of that, where we really see her established in her life in Chicago before she, of course, goes off to help Reacher.”

This context is important because it shows that the spinoff will pick up with the character already settled into her new role as a private investigator, making it easier for the show to hit the ground running.

The series is being helmed by Reacher creator Nick Santora along with Nicholas Wootton, both serving as co-showrunners and executive producers.

Lee Child is also on board as an executive producer, adding to the confidence that the spinoff will maintain the same quality and tone as Reacher.

Given all this, fans should keep an eye on the last quarter of 2025, as all signs point to Neagley arriving sooner rather than later.
