Sarita Choudhury's Seema Patel in And Just Like That is facing a transitional time in her life in the latest episode. There's a lot of chaos in Seema's life, from her love life to her professional career, and her fierce independent side is being tested in more ways than one.
Even though Seema's confidence is a bit shaken in Season 3, she is not a person who gives up easily. She does end up figuring out how to proceed, but it is a lot. In a recent conversation with Variety, Sarita Choudhury emphasized how excited she is for the twists and turns in her character's life, and even wishes it had happened much sooner. Here's what she said.
Sarita Choudhury on the big changes in Seema's life in And Just Like That

Seema Patel started as Carrie's realtor in And Just Like That, the Sex and the City reboot. However, throughout the seasons, she has grown into a very close friend to Carrie, and more than that, she is the ultimate picture of confidence. So, to watch her stumble after the recent changes in her personal and professional life as she ends a promising relationship and feels underappreciated at her job after her mentor leaves was slightly shocking.
Seema even agrees to go on a trip with Carrie to visit Aidan just so she would have somewhere to be, which is very out of character for her. Sarita reveals that it was a tricky performance for her to portray Seema as a person whose control is fraying in And Just Like That:
"I’ve played confident in other seasons, and suddenly, i was like, Oh, who is Seema when she’s knocked off course? She can’t her guard down too much, because she’s got to keep cool"
"She’s so proud that she’d be embarrassed to to be pushed aside for any reason. It’s hiding embarrassment, hiding pride, and then saying the lines as Seema. It was tricky — layered."
When talking about the changes in Seema's life, Sarita expressed her enthusiasm and how she wished these things had happened sooner in Seema's life as soon as Season 1, Episode 1 of And Just Like That:
"Once we shot me moving to my new space, I had the opposite thought: Why didn’t she do this earlier? This is Seema being her own boss. The traditional part — maybe because she’s Indian, maybe because as a woman she needed investment first, whatever the reason — what I loved is that she played them fully when she was second to someone else. But once she’s in her new place and she’s the boss, I honestly was like, This should have been in Season 1, Episode 1. "
Sarita is extremely excited about the twists and turns in Seema's life in And Just Like That, which have landed her in her present position. We are also looking forward to the growth in Seema's character and how she tackles dating and working for herself, all at once.
