Stranger Things's creators are not holding back from giving fans a new way to experience the end of the series. The last episode of season 5, titled The Rightside Up, is scheduled to release on New Year's Eve on Netflix.

Along with releasing the Stranger Things Season 5 finale on the streaming platform, the creators are also giving fans a chance to watch it in the theaters.

On December 29, Ross Duffer shared the numbers of the theatrical release on Instagram, with the caption:

"Over 1.1 million of you have already RSVPed to the finale screenings on NYE and New Year’s Day, and more than 3,500 showtimes across 620+ theaters are already completely full. What a way to close out a ten-year journey—together."

According to Ross, the finale will be shown over 3,500 times in more than 620 theaters. Ross added that he might meet some of the viewers in Los Angeles, leaving fans excited. From Ross's caption, it's clear that the fans' response has been amazing, and the creators are excited to celebrate the finale together in theaters.

Which theaters are screening the Stranger Things Season 5 finale?

According to Deadline, the Stranger Things Season 5 finale is being shown in AMC, Cinemark, and Regal.

Additionally, viewers can also watch it in:

  • Alamo
  • Cineplex
  • Harkins
  • Landmark
  • Marcus
  • Megaplex

The news of the screening was first shared in October on Tudum. Sharing the news, the Duffer Brothers reportedly said:

"We’re beyond excited that fans will have the chance to experience the final episode of Stranger Things in theaters — it’s something we’ve dreamed about for years, and we’re so grateful to Ted, Bela, and everyone at Netflix for making it happen. Getting to see it on the big screen, with incredible sound, picture, and a room full of fans, feels like the perfect — dare we say bitchin’ — way to celebrate the end of this adventure."

The screenings will begin at the same time the finale drops on Netflix, giving viewers at home and in theaters an equal chance to watch it first. The show will continue playing through New Year's.

The finale episode is reportedly two hours and five minutes long and is the second-longest episode after the Season 4 finale titled The Piggyback, which was two hours and twenty-two minutes long.

What to expect from the Stranger Things Season 5 finale?

The Stranger Things Season 5 finale has left fans wondering if the group can track down Vecna and stop him. At the same time, Vecna seems to be getting successful, as he has everything he needs to finally bring his plan to an end. At the same time, Kali and Eleven are planning to stay back after destroying the Upside Down.

Speaking of the finale, Matt Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter:

"I love Game of Thrones, but it’s just a very different type of show than that. There’s not going to be a Red Wedding situation. I think some things happen in the finale that are very surprising, but we’re not trying to shock or upset anyone."

He added:

"I hope by the time people get to the end of the finale that it just feels like there’s something inevitable about what happens, and that it doesn’t feel painful but feels satisfying. We’ll see."
