Details about Alice’s death in Absentia
Alice is killed at the end of the second season of Absentia by Special Agent Julianne Gunnarsen. At the end of Absentia season 2, Emily confronts Alice. She tells her that she trusted her with Flynn. However, she treated Flynn as a “lab rat”. Hearing this, Alice tells Emily that she did not know the whole story. Her behavior definitely seems quite convincing.
She then adds that she thought that Dr. Oduwale was just monitoring stress, so she was just helping the situation. When Emily asks what they did to Flynn, Alice says that she does not know, as she thought Dr. Oduwale cared about Flynn’s well-being. She then begins to apologize to Emily for everything.
However, it can be understood that Emily is not very trusting of the situation. Alice then continues that she knew that it was a “secret project” and that they were using Flynn’s blood. When Emily further presses the situation, Alice admits that she killed Dr. Oduwale because of the things he did to Emily.
However, Emily saw through her lies. She tells Alice that she did it all to protect herself. Hearing Emily’s words, Alice takes her gun out and points it at Emily. Emily also does the same. Alice is not ready to accept that what she did was wrong. She thinks that he was not a good person, so her actions were right. Emily keeps trying to get Alice to put the gun down.
However, she does not comply. She understands that Flynn and Nick would not be able to forgive her for what she did to them. So her only way out is escaping it all. This moment in Absentia gets further complicated. Emily tells Alice that if she escaped at that moment, she would not be able to see Flynn again, thinking that this would make Alice accept the situation and not run away. However, Alice tells her that she is aware of that, yet she wants to escape.
Emily accepts the situation, bringing her gun down, giving Alice the chance to escape. Right then, a gunshot sound resonates through the area. It is revealed that Alice is shot. Special Agent Julianne Gunnarsen kills Alice at the end of the episode in Absentia.
At the end of Absentia Season 3, Julianne’s true motive for killing Alice is also revealed. Julianne reveals the truth to Alice by telling her that “rich and powerful people need someone to clean up their mess.” She was the person tasked to kill Alice because Alice turned “stupid” and “soft”. These powerful people knew that she would sell them out in a minute, so they needed to quiet her.
