There is an exciting new update for Doctor Who fans as the second season is slowly coming close to its two-part finale set to air on May 31. The Doctor is making his comeback to the big screens in this finale, just like last season, as it was announced recently that BBC Studios, in collaboration with CinemaLive, is bringing the two-part season finale for an in-cinema viewing experience.
Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor has been busy this second season, trying to get his newest companion, Varada Sethu's Belinda Chandra, back home by May 24, 2025. So far, this has been "one hell of a journey home" as they adventure in Space and Time.
Here's everything we know about the in-cinema viewing experience of the Doctor Who Season 2 finale.
Doctor Who two-part season finale to get an in-cinema screening

The Doctor and Belinda Chandra have spent the second season on an adventure in Time and Space, trying to get back to Earth on May 24, 2025, unaware that the Earth they're trying to go back to does not exist anymore. In the two-part, exciting finale "Wish World" and "The Reality War," fans will find out exactly why Belinda Chandra has been unable to go back to her life and job. They'll find out why the sinister Mrs. Flood has been following the pair, looking like she knows exactly who is responsible for the Doctor's inability to return Belinda to her home.
What's more is that fans across the United Kingdom and Ireland will have the opportunity to experience together the finale to this catastrophic tale and their favorite Doctor Who on the big screen on Saturday, May 31. Tickets for the in-cinema experience are available online at doctorwhoincinemas.co.uk, or you can buy them in person. Natasha Spence, the Events Manager for BBC Studios, talked about this update, saying:
"We're delighted to be partnering with CinemaLive once again and give Doctor Who fans across the UK and Ireland the opportunity to watch their favourite show together. This finale promises to be an amazing ride for Whovians, and we're excited to share the Doctor and Belinda's latest adventures with them on the big screen."
The Head of Acquisitions & Distributions for CinemaLive, John Travers, revealed that:
"Following the success of last year's midnight cinema event, we're excited to be working with BBC Studios to ensure that this time round, Doctor Who fans of all ages are able to share in the epic experience of watching the two-part season finale on the big screen."
For fans who are unable to experience the Doctor Who finale on the big screen, it will be available to watch on BBC One or Disney+ once it airs, depending on where you're watching from.
