Season 1 became Netflix’s first Korean cooking competition, bringing together 100 chefs from different cities and regions of South Korea, with only one destined to win ₩300 million prize (roughly $220,000 USD). Through Culinary Class Wars, the local restaurants of the contestants also experienced a huge surge in their business, which was another reason why this show was a big hit.
