1) New York: NYC's Times Square and Chinatown, FBI Sets, Harriman State Park, and Bear Mountain)
Times Square: Similar to other crime shows, much of the filming of Blindspot is based in New York, primarily in New York City. Starting with the iconic, vibrant, and popular destination, Times Square. This touristy spot plays a pivotal role in the series. In the pilot episode, Jane Done- the mysterious tattooed woman who appears naked from a duffel bag with a tag 'Call the FBI.' The scene is shot in an eerily empty Times Square. The production team had to shut down a part of Times Square overnight to shoot this scene.
China Town: Several scenes of Blindspot were also shot in the bustling streets of Chinatown. In fact, the first case after the federal agents found out about Jane Doe's tattoos was shot in Chinatown. The narrow alleys, neon signs, and dumpling shops with Chinese lanterns hanging provide a perfect backdrop to shoot any street chase scene. Other locations in New York City: Additionally, the FBI office scenes were filmed in New York studios. Yes, the FBI headquarters were recreated by the production house in the studios to provide a realistic look. Additionally, several scenes were filmed at iconic locations throughout the city, including Grand Central Terminal, Wall Street, and City Hall. Other filming location includes the Brooklyn neighbourhood, around Ditmas Park.
Outside the city, the crew filmed in several locations, including Rockland County, with towns such as Nyack, Pomona, and the Pearl River Project. These quieter areas were used for filming flashback scenes and suburban hideouts.
Harriman State Deer Park and Bear Mountain: Some of the outdoor scenes were also filmed in Harriman State Park and Bear Mountain. Located in Rockland County, Harriman State Park is filled with numerous lakes, lush green forests, hiking trails, camping grounds, and even two beaches. Bear Mountain, located near the Hudson River in Orange County, offers mesmerizing views. Just an hour away from Manhattan, these parks offer hiking trails, boating spots, and an unbeatable autumn foliage.
2) International locations: Venice, Italy, Barcelona, Spain, and more
While most of the scenes were shot in New York, a few memorable scenes from Blindspot Season 3 were shot in Venice, Italy. The historical canals, bridges, and church provided a perfect backdrop, adding an international charm and thrill to the series.
