My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2 is back with fresh drama, old friends, and lots of heartwarming moments, but with all of that beneath the surface is one interesting fact: Where did the season really film? Although the show is set in the make-believe town of Silver Falls, Colorado, fans may be surprised to learn that no scene was ever filmed there.

Instead, the crew shipped out the cast and crew to Alberta, Canada, where there were little towns, movie studios, and landscape scenery available to provide the setting for this season's narrative. Rather unexpected, isn't it?

What makes all this so interesting is the way Alberta merged into both Silver Falls and glimpses of New York City. From open-expansive rural towns to high school corridors, and from intimate in-house situations, the show manages it without leaving the viewer in doubt.

In Season 2 of My Life With the Walter Boys, the producers clearly knew how to make the most of Alberta’s landscapes, bringing every setting to life with striking authenticity. Here’s a closer look at the filming locations!

Filming of Season 2 of Heart of My Life With the Walter Boys in the Calgary Metropolitan Area

One of the main locations for filming My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2 was Chestermere, a suburb of Calgary. Filming for Season 2 began in July 2024 and wrapped up in November 2024, giving the crew several months to travel across diverse locations in the region. Calgary has long been a favorite among filmmakers, thanks to its unique blend of modern urban infrastructure and picturesque rural landscapes. This versatility made it the perfect stand-in for both the small-town charm of Colorado and the bustling urban settings required for the series.

And as the viewer sees Jackie become comfortable at Silver Falls and periodically flashbacks to New York, it's Alberta's weather and geography that facilitated such scenes to be filmed.

The Walters' home in My Life With the Walter Boys, Season 2, is in Bragg Creek.

The CL Western Town and Backlot, located at Bragg Creek, was one of the most significant sites used during My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2. Bragg Creek was the residence of the Walters and a great sector of the Silver Falls community.

The gnarled look of the backlot presented an accessible backdrop that readily masqueraded as a Colorado town and reduced the application of digital deception for the production team. The natural scenery in Bragg Creek also came in handy, with the wooded landscape and mountains offering depth to outdoor scenes.

It's amazing how one location could be the focus point for the season's small-town background!

Rocky Mountain Film Studio – World within creation in My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2

The Rocky Mountain Film Studio in Calgary was the focal point of some of the scenes that weren't shot outdoors for Season 2 of Some of My Life With the Walter Boys. Covering 63 acres, the studio has ten sound stages, production offices, wardrobe spaces, and a backlot, all included for complete set flexibility.

This studio provided the show with an internal location to shoot family gatherings in the home of the Walters, intimate character-to-character conversations, and other close-up setups that would be less practical outdoors.

The interior space of the Rocky Mountain Film Studio allowed the crew to achieve a uniform look for the program without depending entirely on those harsh outdoor settings.

Chestermere: My Life With the Walter Boys, Season 2 scenes involving school and leisure

Chestermere, a Calgary suburb, served as one of the primary filming locations for My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2. Chestermere High School, at 241078 Range Road 280, was commandeered by the production as the site for school and classroom storylines. It was the location where Jackie's life as a student in Silver Falls began, and shooting on a real school backdrop provided the show with a real, true-to-life environment.

Other than that, the Chestermere Recreation Center at 201 West Chestermere Drive was also a location for sports and social activities scenes. These settings provided realism to the story, placing the imaginary storyline within actual community surroundings that viewers can immediately relate to.

Cochrane, Crossfield, and High River – Small-town charming

My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2 filming didn't finish in Calgary and Chestermere. Scenes were also shot in Crossfield and Cochrane, smaller towns that provided the realistic small-town appearance on which the show was founded. High River was more visible than most, though.

For a week or so in October 2024, production shifted to High River, making use of familiar landmarks such as George Lane Memorial Park and Campground (343 Macleod Trail SW) and the Museum of the Highwood (406 1 Street SW).

These shooting locations added a welcome additional touch of small-town character and hometown hospitality to the show's scenes taking place in Silver Falls, demonstrating Alberta was an easy location to double as an American rural backdrop.

A light-hearted on-set experience in High River

Although there was much attention to capturing the ideal scenes on camera during the shooting for My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2, there were also some light-hearted experiences. Starring actor Ashby Gentry was kind enough to share a humorous High River shooting tale.

Swinging into the town's cookie shop, Gentry was soon discovered by fans of the show. What was originally intended to be a speedy snack run turned into a spontaneous meet-and-greet and became a highlight for both townsmen and the actor.

It's the little behind-the-scenes anecdotes like these that make us realize that shooting isn't only about the sets; it creates real-life relationships in the locations that it does, too!

Ultimately, all of the My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2 scenes were shot in Alberta, Canada, with Calgary, Bragg Creek, Chestermere, Cochrane, Crossfield, and High River all featuring prominently. From CL Western Town backlot to actual schools and rec centers, every site contributed to the tale of the season in some way.

Through the merging of professional studio gear and actual small-town settings, the show was able to effectively attain Silver Falls, Colorado, without ever venturing out of Canada across the international border. It's a great representation of the way chosen sites are placed into a show and are included to help create the tone of a series and develop its fictional universe on TV.
