Where does My Life With the Walter Boys take place? Setting of the Netflix series, explored

My Life with the Walter Boys, which has just released its second season on August 28, 2025, follows Jackie Howard, who moves from Manhattan to rural Colorado after her parents and older sister pass away in a tragic accident. After her family's passing, Jackie's mother's best friend, Katherine Walter, and her husband, George Walter, become her guardians, and she moves in with the Walters.

But moving from the city where she grew up to a ranch in rural Colorado isn't easy, and we see Jackie struggle in both My Life with the Walter Boys seasons one and two. Where does My Life With the Walter Boys take place?

My Life with the Walter Boys takes place in the fictional town of Silver Falls, Colorado. The house where Jackie lives with the Walters is the Walter Ranch, which has been in Georgie Walter's family for generations. Thus, it is the place where all the Walter brothers have grown up.

As it happens in most rural parts of America, the Walters are passionate about running their Ranch, and have horses, chickens, and other animals to keep the business running. However, the location of the show is not just its setting. It puts Jackie in a place she has never been in, in a new school with new friends. Like any other person, after suffering a great loss, moving to Silver Falls wasn't Jackie's first choice, and initially, she doesn't fit in.

Besides, it is harder for her to feel at home in Silver Falls because she has never lived on a ranch, nor is she used to ranch chores. But we see her helping out the Walter family with chores and errands, as she is also part of the family. We don't know if or when Jackie will fully embrace ranch life, but she has grown to love Silver Falls, the horses, her friends, and her new family.

Silver Falls is a fictional town, and while the show states that it is in Colorado, USA, it was actually filmed in different parts of Alberta, Canada. According to Netflix, My Life with the Walter Boys was filmed in Bragg Creek, Calgary, Cochrane, High River, and Kananaskis Country, all in Alberta.

Marc Blucas, who plays George Walter, spoke to Tudum by Netflix about the filming location, saying,

“it really doesn’t get much better,”

He continued,

“It’s always the people along the way, but if the actual destination is pretty damn good too, then it’s tough to beat!”

Speaking about filming in Calgary, Sarah Rafferty, who plays Katherine Walter, told Tudum by Netflix,

“Just look at this place! It’s really magnificent, and having the opportunity to take that in at 3 in the morning and shoot outside and to [admire] the stars has just been really beautiful,”

My Life with the Walter Boys is streaming on Netflix.
