Let's dive into production details and casting updates for Only Child Season 2.

Scotland becomes home once again for the Pritchards with Only Child Season 2

Filming for Only Child Season 2 has begun, and the team has returned to Scotland to capture the quirky world of Ken and Richard Pritchard. Production is spread across Glasgow, Paisley, Helensburgh, and the village of Dunlop, setting the stage for another round of everyday battles between the grumpy father and his equally stubborn son.

Executive producer Neil Webster shared his excitement about being back on set. Speaking to the BBC, he said:

"We're all so excited to be back shooting a new series. Greg and Gregor are back as the first family of Forres, surrounded by all the cast and crew that made series one such a joy."

His words capture how much the cast and crew value the warm response the first season received.

The six-episode comedy, produced by Happy Tramp North for BBC Comedy, BBC Scotland and iPlayer, has already made a mark after being nominated for an RTS Scotland Award.

Written by Bryce Hart, the new season promises more comic clashes from awkward driving lessons to arguments about QR codes, and even shopping for your own 'death bed.'

These little slices of absurdity are exactly what give the show its charm, and shooting across Scotland keeps the humor grounded in an authentic setting.

Familiar favorites and fresh faces join Only Child Season 2

The return of Only Child Season 2 also means the return of a cast that fans have grown to love. Gregor Fisher and Greg McHugh step back into the roles of Ken and Richard Pritchard, the constantly squabbling duo at the heart of the series.

Along with them, Amy Lennox returns as Emily, Clare Barrett reprises her role as Jen, Robin Laing is back as lan, and Paul Rattray returns as Digsy.

There are new talents this season, too. Clive Russell, known for his work in Game of Thrones joins the cast along with Jenny Galloway, known for Fleabag.

Kevin Bishop and Tam Dean Burn also come on board this season. While details about their characters are still under wraps, their involvement hints at even more comic and dramatic layers for the Pritchard clan.

Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning for BBC Scotland, explained what makes the series resonate. Speaking to BBC Scotland, she said:

"Only Child was a real hit with audiences who took Ken and Richard to their hearts. Bryce has written another script full of warmth and humour... We're looking forward to seeing how life has been treating Ken and Richard as they navigate the ups and downs of modern day life together."

With filming in full swing and such a mix of old and new cast members, the second season seems set to build on everything the audience adored the first time around.

With filming happening across Scotland in Glasgow, Paisley, Helensburgh and Dunlop, Only Child Season 2 promises to be rooted in authentic settings. With Bryce Hart's witty writing and touches, along with a cast that clearly loves working together, fans can expect another season of laughter, warmth and the odd tear.
