Peacemaker Season 2 arrives on HBO Max on 21st August, 2025. This season of Peacemaker is the second project in the new DCU timeline with James Gunn as the new head of DC. No matter how much fans love DC, the timelines of the projects have been inconsistent at times. With James Gunn as the new head of DC, there is hope that the new timeline will be much clearer.
However, since Peacemaker season one already exists, and came out before Gunn became the new head of DC, there is a question regarding where Peacemaker season 2 lies in the DCU timeline. In conversation with Entertainment Weekly, James Gunn spoke about where Peacemaker lies in the DCU timeline.

How does Peacemaker Season 2 fit into the new DCU timeline?
Peacemaker season one came out on HBO Max on 13th January 2022, and was part of the DCEU. The series followed Peacemaker (or Christopher Smith) after the events of The Suicide Squad (2021). The series shows us that Peacemaker is forced to join A. R. G. U. S. to kill and rid the world of creatures that look like butterflies, but are parasites, so that they can no longer take over human bodies.
Warner Bros. TV described the show as,
''... the continuing story of the character that series star John Cena reprises in the aftermath of executive producer James Gunn's 2021 film The Suicide Squad - a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it! Delving into current world issues through the lens of superhero/supervillain/world's biggest douchebag, the series extends the world created for The Suicide Squad while bringing to life the soul and wit of Peacemaker and the team.''
Peacemaker Season 2, arriving in August this year, will be the second project in the new DCU timeline, followed by Superman (2025). Given that season one of the show came out in the earlier DCEU, there are questions regarding how Peacemaker Season 2 will fit into the new timeline.
When James Gunn, creator of Peacemaker, was asked where Peacemaker Season 2 fits into the new timeline, he said,
"I see how difficult, after all my time at Marvel, it is to make things truly fit together, so it's an unspecified amount of a couple of years,"
This sounds like a wise choice given how difficult it was for Marvel to clear timeline confusions after the time jump in Avengers: Endgame and then the multiple Marvel shows that have been released since. The upcoming season of Peacemaker's place in the timeline being vague also helps in bringing back Michael Rooker in a new role, after he appeared in Suicide Squad and Creature Commandos.
Speaking about Rooker's new role, James Gunn said in his interview with Entertainment Weekly,
"His name is Red St. Wild, and he's the world's foremost eagle hunter who is on a mission to kill Eagly," James says. "We thought Eagly was probably the most popular character from season 1, and so in season 2, he has his own story with his nemesis, played by none other than the despicable Michael Rooker."
The vagueness of the timeline also allows the addition of Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl, both in Peacemaker Season 2 and Superman (2025). Nathan Fillion will play Guy Gardner, and Isabela Merced will play Hawkgirl.
Peacemaker Season 2 arrives on 21st August 2025.
