The city is where Carol’s house is located. She had a normal life as a fantasy romance author and lived happily with her girlfriend, Helen, before the virus created a hive mind, tying the entire world together and making everyone content.Meanwhile, Carol remained immune to the virus, while Helen passed away. The cul-de-sac where her house is situated is reportedly part of a set built by the production crew. Its location has an important role in the show, as Carol is able to see the entire city from her cul-de-sac.While the narrative is mainly set in Albuquerque, the show does feature other locations as well in some episodes. In the second episode, the story briefly moves to Morocco, where Zosia is seen handling dead bodies, after which she flies a plane and reaches New Mexico. In the third episode, Norway is featured in a flashback sequence when Carol and Helen head for a trip and see the northern lights from an ice hotel. Carol also briefly leaves the city to meet other people who are immune to the virus, but eventually returns home disappointed, as none of the other survivors are concerned about how serious the matter is.Why did Vince Gilligan choose Albuquerque as Pluribus’ setting? View this post on Instagram Instagram PostVince Gilligan is not new to Albuquerque. The creator made the city famous worldwide with his previous shows, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, both of which are counted among the most popular and acclaimed television series in history. The setting initially made viewers question whether Pluribus has a connection with Gilligan’s earlier projects. However, the creator has maintained that the Apple TV series has a unique story with no relation to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.In an interview with LADbible, the showrunner revealed that he chose to base Pluribus in Albuquerque as he loves his crew members who live there and is comfortable working with them. Gilligan added that he knew it would create some confusion among the audience, and hence, was a little hesitant to shoot Pluribus there. He said:“The simple boring answer to that is I love my crew and they all live in Albuquerque! So I figured we have to shoot in Albuquerque because I know them, I love them, I want to keep them employed, I want to keep them selfishly doing the good work I’m used to having. I actually was resistant to the idea of Albuquerque because I thought ‘this is just going to confuse people’. It’s very confusing, I admit to that, but I hope people bear with us.”Pluribus airs new episodes on Apple TV on Fridays.
