Netflix released a new Italian series, Riv4lries on October 1, 2025, which gives a close look into the messy, exciting, and sometimes painful experience of being a teenager. The story centers around Terry, who unwillingly joins a new school in Pisa and discovers that students have to follow some unwritten rules.

These rules are crafted by the school's famous students and their leader, Claudio. Initially, Terry found Claudio interesting, but after he showed his dominating side, Terry decided to form a new rival group, The Outsiders.

This way, Montalcini Middle School is divided into the Insiders: The group of popular students, and the Outsiders: Those sidelined by the Insiders and face dominance from them. The story is quite engaging as it not only focuses on the rivalry at school, but also the personal struggles of these kids.

What really makes Riv4lries special is how real and relatable it looks on screen. One large part of that starts with where it was filmed. Pisa is the main setting, it is central to the story and parts of the series were also shot in Rome, giving a perfect Italian vibe.

Pisa is among the most popular cities in Tuscany, which served as the main spot during the filming of Riv4lries. The city is crucial not only because it was used to film most of the scenes in the show, but also because the charm fits in the story.

Viewers can get a glimpse right in the first episode when Terry arrives from Rome and isn't happy to relocate. Then, she met Claudio after school, and the beautiful background highlights Pisa's charm.

Leaning Tower of Pisa (Piazza del Duomo): This world-famous monument was included in sweeping aerial shots.

Lungarni of Pisa: Another location used while shooting Riv4lries is Lungarni of Pisa, which can be spotted when Terry takes the spotlight in the show. Other key spots that appear in the show include Museo delle Navi Antiche di Pisa and the National Museum of the Royal Palace.

Marina di Pisa (Bocca d’Arno): This location in the city was utilized to capture the coastal scenes in the show.
