Most of the shooting for the show took place in Pará, which is situated in northern Brazil and the region covers the lush Amazon rainforest. Within this region, the cities of Belém and Marajó were prime shooting locations. Most of filming took place in July 2024 and production ended in October 2024.

Since the backdrop is of much important in Rivers of Fate, many scenes are set deep inside the rainforest and the crew camped in Belém AKA Belém do Pará, which is the gateway for the lower Amazon rainforest region. The crew set up mobile sets on top of the Amazon river and director Fernando Meirelles states in an interview to Netflix Brazil that, “Since we’re in the Amazon, we prepared for a set where everything moves, everything changes place all the time.”

Other scenes were filmed at the ecological park in Belém, which is called Parque do Igarapés. The park is known for mineral water pool and tree-climbing circuits. It is therefore a famous picnic spot and it served as the location for some of the show’s more intense scenes.

Filming also took place in Ilha das Onças, which is an island in the Guajará Bay estuary and is near Belém. Famous for its flora and fauna and Jaguars, the island was the perfect location as it captured the wilderness and vastness that Rivers of Fate wanted to explore.

Another location that was used was the coastal island of Marajó, which is in Pará. The island is a hotbed for tourists and known for its palm trees, relaxed towns, and beaches. The island is also home to the Marajoara culture and the island served as the checkpoints in the trafficking scandal. Therefore, Rivers of Fate presents a contrasting background and foreground as the backdrop is serene and natural while the foreground is overrun with criminal activities and betrayal.

The show is available on Netflix.
