The tenth series of Shetland is finally here. It cannot be denied that the thrilling premise of this season of the series is creating an intense atmosphere. The case of the death of the elderly woman is creating quite a bit of trouble for Ruth and her team. The case is progressing at a great pace.

Revisiting key filming locations of the BBC crime drama Shetland

The main filming location for Shetland Series 10 took place in a different location, unlike the usual one. The storyline of the tenth season of the series required an intimate setting of a village. Hence, the crew chose Levenwick to become the fictional location for the village of Lunniswick that we see in this season. Lunniswick is a fictional place.

It was brought to life by transforming the village of Levenwick in Shetland to help enhance the storyline of the case. The backdrop perfectly captured the essence that was required for this season of the series. The main filming location of the series is Lerwick. This can be seen from the beginning.

The village of Levenwick is not far from Lerwick. Rather, it is only at a distance of 17 miles south. Alison O'Donnell revealed that the village of Levenwick is a “beautiful place”. She also noted the significance of the filming locations for the success of the series. She indicated that the “landscape of the isles” was “much purpose built for drama”. The “USP” is the “breathtaking magic and beauty of the Isles”.

Actor Ashley Jensen helms the role of DI Ruth Calder, also revealed that, unlike “expansive locations of last year”, the filming location of this season is “a little more insular”. While speaking of the town of Levenwick, she indicates that in this “real-life town” the people are aware of each other’s “business”.

This aspect is crucial for the storyline of this season, as the murder of the elderly woman causes the automatic inclusion of everyone in the community. Hence, finding the truth about the case becomes even more difficult.

In the fourth episode of Shetland Series 10, Ruth made Louden do her task to find out more about Callaghan. However, things did not turn out well for him. Another distinct focus of this episode was on Stevie Shannon. She definitely created quite a difficult situation because of her desire to be closer to Amy.

It is also revealed in this episode of Shetland that Stevie Shannon was not the killer of Eadie Tulloch. This episode of the series was definitely filled with multiple thrilling moments. It kept the viewers hooked. The events also set the stage for the intense actions that are yet to come in the upcoming episodes of the series. This season is almost at an end.
