Much of the action in Netflix’s Sirens takes place on Julianne Moore’s Michaela Kell’s island, where Devon goes to track down her sister Simone. Filming for this took place in various locations across New York.

Lloyde Harbor in New York

Michaela Kell’s property is near a small island village, and all the outdoor scenes on this property were shot in Lloyd Harbor, New York. This was the most fitting place for the Kell property, as it is an area deeply embedded in wealth and the power that comes with it. Several celebrities, including Angelina Jolie, Billy Joel, and Jerry Seinfeld, own properties in this area.

The Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve in Lloyd Harbor doubled as the woods surrounding the Kells’ property. Since the Kells’ mansion also functions as a wildlife preserve, the Caumsett barn was used as one of Sirens’ filming locations (albeit altered by CGI effects). The body of water seen around the Kells’ property was most likely the Long Island Sound.

Southold in New York

Apart from scenes set on the Kell estate, Sirens also features scenes set at Glenn Howerton’s character Ethan’s home. Reportedly, these scenes were shot on private property along Oregon Road in Cutchogue. This filming location offered the beachside mansion and a yacht club featured in the show.

Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, New York

The above-mentioned locations were used for the outdoor scenes, while the interior scenes set in the Kells’ home were mostly shot at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn. The lavish Kells house was constructed in the studio and perfectly represented Michaela’s wealth, power, and control, showcased through priceless paintings, sculptures, and statues meticulously placed throughout the house.

The guesthouse where Michaela begrudgingly permitted Devon to stay, as well as Peter Kell’s lighthouse interior, were also constructed at this studio. CGI effects and green screens played a major role in bringing to life the hauntingly beautiful backdrops of Netflix’s dark comedy.

All five episodes of Sirens are now available for streaming on Netflix, so don’t waste any time before witnessing the beautiful yet eerie atmosphere of the show.
