Talamasca: The Secret Order is adapted from Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches.

It is a supernatural thriller created by John Lee Hancock and focuses on the mysterious organization known as Talamasca. This organization is tasked with observing and protecting humanity from supernatural forces, along with witches, vampires and werewolves.

Guy Anatole is at the centre and portrayed as a law student with a bright future in New York. His life changes drastically when a member of Talamasca approaches him. He is eventually recruited for a high-stakes mission that requires him to go undercover in this secret organization. Most of the narrative unfolds in London's secret corners, making the filming location of the show mostly in England, particularly Greater Manchester, replicating several other locations there. The makeup artist of Talamasca: The Secret Order, Howard Berger, took to social media during the final stretch of shooting to praise the cast and crew for their cooperation and craftsmanship, suggesting the trust AMC has in their new supernatural drama.

As mentioned, Greater Manchester in England was used to replicate several other locations of London as the narrative majorly unfolds in that setting. The region offers a diverse architecture and cinematic flexibility, which made it an authentic setting for London's shadowy underworld.

Supervising location manager Gary Barnes, while speaking with Screen Manchester, also praised Manchester’s adaptability.

“Bringing a production as big as Talamasca to Manchester presented a range of unique challenges and demands. The city delivered brilliant and immediately workable solutions."

The show is shot in real as well as in more controlled studio spaces. According to reports, a major proportion of the narrative was shot in Space Studios Manchester on Vaughan Street in the Gorton district. The studio comes with 85,000 square feet of studio space with multiple sound stages and on-site amenities like a green room and separate spaces for workshops.
