The Last Frontier, which brings the world of harsh environments filled with criminals to life, takes us on a thrilling ride from the get-go. The trailer of The Last Frontier depicted that the harsh environment would play a crucial role in the series. The snowcapped forests and mountains are more than just a backdrop. These become the factor that enhances the danger of the storyline.
The series is set in Alaska, where Frank Remnick, a U.S Marshall, is tasked to handle the case of fugitives. He soon understands that the case is more complicated than meets the eye. Each and every scene of this series seems to personify the danger and isolation. To bring out the danger of the series, the filming was done in Quebec, Canada.
Quebec becomes the main filming location for The Last Frontier
The manner in which the creators depict the backdrop of The Last Frontier truly creates the impression that the filming is done in Alaska. However, much of the filming is done in Quebec, Canada. The filming location perfectly captures the aspect of danger that surrounds the series. Besides Quebec, certain parts of the filming also took place in Alberta.
It is truly intriguing to note that the backdrop for the series was not initially meant to be in Alaska. Prior to the selection of Alaska as the backdrop of the storyline, the creators wanted to make Manhattan the backdrop. Though Manhattan would have equally been an intriguing choice of location, it cannot be denied that Alaska perfectly captures the essence of danger in the series.

The sheer authenticity of the environment that the filming location provided truly elevated the whole storyline of The Last Frontier. The Alaskan territory that we see in the series comes to life through these filming locations. This can be understood when the US Marshall himself points out that there is no perimeter.
The storyline of the series takes us on a journey where a plane carrying multiple dangerous criminals crashes. After the crash, these criminals ran away, so the police are tasked with finding them. However, finding so many criminals in the harsh environment is not an easy task in any way.

Frank Remnick finds out that the plane, before crashing, made a detour to bring in a new criminal. This criminal, Havlock, was masked and chained. After the crash, Havlock was nowhere to be found. It is slowly revealed that Havlock will be playing a major role in the complications.
It is truly a testament to the creators of The Last Frontier as they are able to bring out the frosty world of Alaska through Quebec, Canada. They completely transformed the filming location to cater to the series. They created a convincing facade that truly makes it hard to believe that the series is not filmed in Alaska. In a recent interview, Jason Clarke opened up about the intense action sequences that this series will have.
It cannot be denied that Sam Hargrave is a genius regarding action sequences. He can choreograph intense action sequences with such perfection that it truly leaves an impact. Hence, this collaboration of Sam Hargrave and Jason Clarke definitely raises the anticipation. The eagerness for the upcoming episodes is now at an all-time high. Two episodes of the series are already out, and the third episode of the series is all set to drop on October 17.
