Unspeakable Sins is a Mexican Netflix original series that officially premiered on July 30, 2025.

It stars Zuria Vega as Helena, a woman stuck in a toxic marriage, Andrés Baida as Iván, a young escort she falls for, and Erik Hayser as Claudio, the manipulative husband who runs a hotel empire built on blackmail and cruelty. The show follows Helena as she tries to escape Claudio’s control, only to get caught in a darker situation where secrets, lies, and betrayal spin out of control.

Created by Leticia López Margalli and Guillermo Ríos and directed by Pablo Ambrosini, Unspeakable Sins was shot entirely in Mexico, giving it a raw and realistic feel that matches the tone of the series. The storyline required settings that could feel both intimate and high-stakes, and the production used real hotels, lakeside towns, and urban neighborhoods to establish that contrast.

Filming of Unspeakable Sins began in mid-2024 and wrapped the same year. Mexico City, Ciudad Satélite, and Valle de Bravo were the main locations used throughout the season. Each location added something specific to the scenes, whether it was the urban pressure of the capital or the quiet tension of a lakeside escape. These weren’t just background; they shaped how the story unfolded.

Filming for Unspeakable Sins took place entirely in Mexico in 2024. The crew used multiple real-world locations to match the tone and demands of the story. Mexico City served as the central production base.

Most of the urban scenes, including Helena’s home, office interiors, alley chases, and the hotel empire Claudio built, were shot in different neighborhoods across the capital. These included both residential and commercial zones that matched the characters’ social standing.

One of the most critical shooting locations of Unspeakable Sins was Ciudad Satélite, a planned community in the State of Mexico, northwest of Mexico City. It’s where the fictional Martinez family’s hotel was located in the show. All major hotel scenes, lobby confrontations, office politics, surveillance room sequences, and Claudio’s last moments were filmed inside a real hotel in Ciudad Satélite.

The exterior shots of the hotel, especially those involving media coverage and the police investigation, were also filmed there. This location was chosen because of its high-end look, wide streets, and recognizable urban structure, including the famous Torres de Satélite sculptures in the background of a few drone shots.

The second major filming site was Valle de Bravo, a lakeside town in central Mexico. Valle de Bravo offered a complete contrast to the chaos of Mexico City. It’s where Helena and Iván escape briefly to plan their next move. Several key episodes were filmed near Lake Avándaro.

The calm visuals of the lake, the surrounding forests, and narrow cobblestone roads made it the perfect location to reflect the characters’ momentary peace. The crew also used a few private cabins in the area for indoor scenes between Helena and Iván, including their first moment of honesty away from the shadows of Claudio’s control.

In addition to these, several sequences were shot on rooftops and public roads in central Mexico City. Jeronimo Rodriguez AMC, the show’s cinematographer, used handheld cameras and natural lighting to make those locations feel tense without overproducing the shots.

Viewers might notice some scenes are set in busy intersections or commercial strips. The footage wasn’t filmed on a closed set but captured using real city traffic and pedestrian movement. This allowed for a more grounded feel, especially in episodes where Sofia, the detective, chases down leads.

Production was largely done with local crews and real environments. There were no artificial backlots or green screen cityscapes. Social media posts from cast and crew confirmed shooting schedules around Ciudad Satélite in July and Valle de Bravo in August 2024. Residents spotted filming vans and reported traffic diversions in those areas at the time.

These locations weren’t picked for convenience; they were used because each one helped move the story forward. From the elite architecture of Satélite to the lakeside stillness of Valle de Bravo, every background choice was made to reflect the pressure, isolation, or escape the characters were dealing with in that moment.
