Played by Emma D’Arcy, Queen Rhaenyra is the heir to King Viserys and the leader of the Blacks. However, her throne was stolen by her half-brother. She wants to be the first woman to sit on the Iron Throne, and even though she spent Season 2 gathering sworn swords, Rhaenyra will finally lead her army against the Greens in Season 3. Therefore, fans can be rest assured that the fierce character will be back on House of the Dragon Season 3 and fight for her birthright.

Another important character of the show, Matt Smith’s Daemon, has always struggled with being adjacent to the throne. In the series, he often felt frustrated and used his annoyance in battle, becoming a strong force, with his dragon Caraxes along. After abandoning his wife Rhaenyra in Season 2, Daemon re-swore his allegiance to her, and the duo have prepared to gather an army for war. In House of the Dragon Season 3, Daemon will once more be back in action and might finally hold the battle between the Targaryen Prince and his nephew, Aemond.

3. Aegon Targaryen

Aegon is the eldest son of King Viserys and is played by Tom Glynn-Carney. He hesitantly takes the throne after his mother, Alicent Hightower, mistakenly thought that Viserys wanted Aegon to supersede his sister. Even though Aegon does not want to rule, he leads the Greens against Rhaenyra’s Blacks and is brutally injured during the battle at Rook’s Rest. In Season 2, it was hinted that Aegon might be smuggled out of Westeros to hide in Braavos until the war ends, which will bring new twists and turns in House of the Dragon Season 3.
