Ted Lasso is a sports comedy drama show developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly. The acclaimed series features Sudeikis, Jeremy Swift, Hannah Waddingham, Keeley Hazell, and others.

Ted Lasso revolves around the titular character (played by Sudeikis), who is an American college football coach and is hired to coach an English soccer team. The owner of the team wants Lasso’s inexperience to cost the team its failure, but Lasso motivates the squad with his comedic and optimistic approach, and the English soccer team becomes unexpectedly successful.

Ted Lasso has three seasons till now and it has received positive reviews from critics and viewers for its humor, performances, writing, and themes. The show has won numerous awards, including the Emmys, and a fourth season has already been renewed by the streaming platform, Apple TV+.

Even though it is a recurring character, Bex is important to the cast of Ted Lasso. Played by Keeley Hazell, the character of Bex is present in Season 1 and guest-stars in Season 2 and 3 of the show. Bex is Rupert’s new girlfriend and eventually becomes his third wife. Interestingly, Bex is short for Rebecca, and Rupert tries to annoy his ex-wife by getting together with another woman with the same name.

Rupert Mannion is played by Anthony Head, and his character Rupert is present in Season 3 and is a recurring character in Season 1 and Season 2. He is Rebecca’s vindictive and philandering ex-husband, who is the former owner of AFC Richmond, the English soccer team that Lasso comes to coach. Rupert later becomes the owner of West Ham United.

In the storyline of the show, Lasso is an American football coach with no experience coaching an English Premier League soccer team. However, he is hired to coach AFC Richmond as Rebecca has become the owner of the team in a divorce from her ex-husband Rupert, who adores the team. Therefore, Rebecca wants Lasso’s inexperience to cause the team to suffer, which would hurt Rupert. However, Ted Lasso overturns the fortunes of the team and makes it successful.

In Season 1 of the show, Bex appeared as Jamie Tartt’s date for the benefit hosted by AFC Richmond. Towards the end, Bex leaves with Rupert, and it was later revealed that Rupert and Bex have married and also have a child. Even though Rebecca hated Rupert, Bex maintained a cordial relationship with her.

In Season 3, Rebecca catches Rupert being unfaithful to Bex with his assistant, Ms. Kakes, and she warns Rupert that he should stay faithful to Bex and their child. Towards the end of the season, Bex and Ms. Kakes appear at Rebecca’s door, and according to Screen Rant, it could be that the two want Rebecca’s help in exposing Rupert’s dishonest activities at West Ham.

Keeley Hazell is an English model and actress who rose to fame through appearances in magazines such as FHM and Loaded. Beyond her modeling career, she has acted in films and TV shows, including Venus and the Sun, Like Crazy, The Royals, and, most notably, Ted Lasso, where she played Bex. Hazell also shared the screen with her Ted Lasso co-star Jason Sudeikis in Horrible Bosses 2, and the two later reunited on the Apple TV+ series. Off-screen, Hazell and Sudeikis were romantically linked between 2021 and 2022.

The actress even penned a memoir, where she reflects on her role as Bex. Hazell mentions that Bex is someone “who has stumbled and struggled and survived…I get to play the greatest role of my lifetime…”
