Fatal Seduction has returned with its second season on Netflix, but audiences are still not over an intriguing mystery that was introduced in the first season. At the beginning of the series, Nandi is invited by her best friend, Brenda, for a weekend getaway.
However, poor Brenda is soon found dead at her home, and her murder starts a chain of events that completely change Nandi’s life. Jacob, the man Nandi is having an affair with, becomes the prime suspect in the case.
However, the identity of the killer is not revealed until the very end. In the finale of Fatal Seduction Season 1, it is disclosed that Brenda killed herself. Nobody murdered her, and she had instead taken her own life.
Who killed Brenda in Fatal Seduction?
Brenda killed herself in Fatal Seduction. She is introduced in the show as Nandi’s best friend, whom she can lean on during her marital troubles. However, her own life is complicated as she is holding some regrets and secrets that lead her to take her own life.
A traumatic incident from her past had haunted her for years. When she was a schoolteacher, a young student disappeared under her supervision and was later found dead. Even though she had nothing to do with the crime, the guilt left a permanent scar on her.
Meanwhile, her connection with Leonard, Nandi’s husband, makes things even worse. It is revealed later that Brenda had been having an affair with Leonard for years, while being aware that he is married to her best friend. The hopelessness of being the ‘other woman’ in a marriage, coupled with her earlier trauma, left her in a fragile state of mind. That is why she died by suicide.
But when she is found dead in her villa, investigators find male DNA and condoms at the scene, which point towards foul play. The police suspect that Brenda could have been killed to silence her about the wrongful conviction of Benjamin Jiba, a man accused of crimes he did not commit.
Nandi, Jacob, Vuyo, and Leonard all fall under suspicion of murder at one point or another in Fatal Seduction Season 1. As the series progresses, it comes out that Jacob is actually Benjamin Jiba’s son. He had set out to seduce Nandi as part of a revenge plot against Leonard and the corrupt system that destroyed his father.
Jacob then becomes a prime suspect in Brenda’s death because he is the last person seen visiting her home. As Jacob insists that he is innocent, the truth comes out at the end of Fatal Seduction Season 1. Brenda had left behind a voicemail in which she confessed that her love for Leonard had no future.
Watching Leonard plan a grand anniversary for Nandi crushed whatever little hope she had left, and she decided to end her life. Thus, there is actually no killer of Brenda, and everyone turns out to be a false suspect in the murder case.
Fatal Seduction Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix.
