For years, we've watched Chicago Fire, where the firefighters and paramedics of the Chicago Fire Department work tirelessly to rescue and care for others. It is truly fascinating. However, beyond the intense storylines centered on rescue operations, the personal lives of the characters also become an engaging aspect for viewers.
In Chicago Fire, Casey’s relationship journey throughout the series has been quite a rollercoaster. However, the twelfth season finally reveals who Casey ends up with, and fans are loving it.
Who does Casey end up with in Chicago Fire?
In season one of the show, we see Casey engaged to Dr. Hallie Thomas. However, their engagement did not last long. He later marries Gabriella Dawson in season five. Their marriage also faces issues, which eventually lead to their divorce. Finally, at the end of the ninth season, Casey begins dating Sylvie Brett.
Their friendship started long before, but their dating period was truly iconic. The fandom even called their duo ‘Brettsey’. The dynamic of their relationship was based on a strong friendship. The shared experiences helped deepen their bond.
Over the years, they faced numerous ups and downs. However, each challenge only strengthened their bond. It was clear that Casey and Brett would be the endgame.
Finally, at the end of season eleven, they get engaged. At the beginning of season twelve, we see Brett and Casey’s wedding, and it is nothing short of magical. Casey finally got her happy ending.

Chief Wallace Boden officiated their wedding, with Violet Mikami as Brett’s maid of honor. Kelly Severide served as Casey’s best man. Chicago Fire truly delivered on the wedding scene. While discussing Brett ending up with Casey in an interview with the New York Post, Kara Killmer, who plays Brett on Chicago Fire, said,
“I think what's unique about Matt is that he never asked her to compromise. He always brought out the best in her. I love that they end up together, because I think they do bring out the best in each other.”
It is definitely true, especially when we consider how Casey treated Brett over the seasons, that their dynamic is not unique but also perfectly fits together.
From their first kiss in season nine to finally getting married in season 12 of Chicago Fire, ‘Brettsey’ has come a long way. After their initial kiss, things got complicated when Casey couldn't clarify to Brett whether he still had lingering feelings for Dawson.
The complications led Brett to date Greg Grainger, which only made things worse. However, Chicago Fire did not dwell on these issues and finally gave us what we wanted: Casey accepting his love for Brett.

Their relationship also experienced a long-distance phase when Casey decided to move to Oregon. Although fans were worried, Casey’s words in Season 10, Episode 5, eased all concerns when he told Brett,
“But you and me, I want to keep being you and me.”
It cannot be denied that Casey had a way with words. However, even though Casey tried to keep his word, their long-distance relationship came to a halt in season eleven when Brett broke up with him over the phone.
Still, their breakup did not last long. Casey understood Brett’s importance in his life. He proposed to her for marriage. Throughout the show, their bond proved resilient. The eventual wedding was a culmination that the fans had been waiting for all along.
