Who is Delirium, with whom Morpheus embarked on his journey to look for Destruction?
As the comic readers might have discovered, Delirium is one of the Endless, the youngest of them all. In The Sandman season 2, Dream is reunited with all of his mysterious siblings, from Death to Destiny, and also with Delirium.
Netflix has provided a perfect description of ‘who is Delirium’ among the Endless in The Sandman season 2, and it reads as follows:
"The youngest of the Endless. She inhabits a sometimes ecstatic, sometimes incoherent realm, but she is always actively trying to navigate her way through it. Though her language can be difficult to follow, there is always a logic — if not a wisdom — that her siblings often miss."
Played by English actress Esmé Creed-Miles, Delirium was not always the chaotic sibling that we see in the Netflix series. She used to be the Delight, who has now turned into Delirium.
More on this in our story.
Exploring Dream’s youngest sibling in the Endless family
The Sandman season 2 brought out the characters from Dream’s life as they introduced the Endless siblings. The eccentric and whimsical character often seeks adventure, and in the last three episodes, she gets one when she and Morpheus go to search for Destruction.
In the first episode of season 2, Destiny calls upon all of his Endless siblings for a family meeting using their portraits in his realm. Delirium in the poster appeared as Delight, her previous form. However, it is not revealed either in the show or the comics how Delight became Delirium.
Her eccentric and chaotic aura might make you ask, ‘Who is Delirium?’ as she can change her appearance, from clothes to even her eye color, depending on her moods. Just like her moods, her realm is also mysterious and can be a place where one loses their sanity; the unreliable place does not even spare her, as she complains about losing things herself.
As mentioned, Delirium is the one who goes with Morpheus to look for Destruction, whom they find in a secluded place. Living with a talking dog named Barnabus. While they navigate the human world and attempt to convince Destruction to return so that they can have a family reunion, he refuses to join them.
