IT: Welcome to Derry is the perfect combination of danger and mystery mixed with a layer of intense moments throughout. Each episode takes the stakes higher and higher.
The seventh episode of IT: Welcome to Derry brings forth many revelations related to Shaw and Pennywise, along with the tragic death. It can be understood that this tragic death will leave a lasting impact on the other characters of the series.

Tragic death of Rich in IT: Welcome to Derry Episode 7
IT: Welcome to Derry blends the aspects of gore and danger in this episode in an impactful manner. From the beginning of the episode, there is a depiction of the past that led to the present situation. In the past, before IT took over the body of the clown, the clown used to entertain children.
It was the first thing that drew IT. IT wanted to get children drawn as well. This episode also shows Pennywise the clown’s relationship with his daughter. He faced quite a troublesome situation after his performances. However, for his daughter Ingrid, it was a delightful ability that only he possessed. As this episode of IT: Welcome to Derry continues, Hank Grogan is being targeted. A group of people arrives at the location where Hank was given shelter.
These people wanted to get Hank; however, the other did not want to give Hank up. They wanted to protect him. This caused the men to attack the shelter, showering it with fire and bullets. The fire begins to completely engulf the place, putting the people inside in danger.
Marge and Rich also get trapped, unable to get out. Right at the moment, Ronnie, Hank, and Will are able to escape the situation. Before Rich and Marge are able to follow them to safety, a part of the ceiling falls in front of them, ruining their chance of escape.
IT uses this dire situation where the people are trying to run away from the fire to catch its next victims. He begins his killing spree once again. Seeing that there is no chance to escape from the fire, Rich decides to put Marge inside a box so that she is safe from the fire. The box has space only for Marge.
Just as Marge enters the box, Rich closes the lid and lies down on top of it, protecting Marge with his body. Smoke and fire fill the room. Marge begins to cry, trying to make Rich open the lid so that he does not have to die; however, Rich refuses to do so. He wants to protect Marge’s life even if it means ending up dead. The manner in which Rich protects Marge in this moment in IT: Welcome to Derry leaves an impact. Despite being a child, he felt that protecting Marge was the priority.
After the fires die down, help arrives. They take Marge out of the box. She is completely traumatized by the situation when she notices Rich’s head. She goes around to the box to see Rich sitting beside the box with a smile on his face. He is now dead, yet till the very end, he wanted to protect Marge from danger. This shocking death in this episode truly leaves an impact. Rich was a significant aspect of the storyline in IT: Welcome to Derry.
