Love Island UK Episode 37 saw an elimination in the hands of another couple in the villa, and it will be an understatement to say that it was shocking.
One of the strongest connections was sent home by Shakira and Ty, who reasoned that the other two left should be given a chance to explore since they have not found their match yet.
The episode that dropped on July 15, 2025, saw a recoupling and a dumping. Shakira and Ty were awarded a power-up after being voted as the most compatible couple in the Love Island UK villa currently.
They had the option to dump one of the couples from the bottom three. These were Conor and Emma, Lauren and Harrison, and Tommy and Lucy.
Shakira and Ty decided to discuss it privately and determine which couple would be a valid option. She did not want to send her connections home because Shakira explained that was the whole point of having allies.
She started on the note that they should send home the strongest connection among the three couples, because then, they would have a chance to live it off and solidify it outside the villa based on what they have built inside Love Island UK.
Ultimately, Shakira announced that they have decided to send Tommy and Lucy home. Explaining, she said,
"This hasn’t been an easy decision…We discussed whether things are already solid enough to work on the outside or if people still have things to explore within the Villa. So the couple we have decided to dump is Tommy and Lucy."
This was a huge shock to all the other islanders because they were not expecting a good couple to go home so soon. Lucy ended up in tears as she wanted to continue her Love Island UK journey; however, Tommy, even though he was sad, seemed better off emotionally.
Why did Shakira and Ty send Tommy and Lucy home on Love Island UK?
By the powers vested in Shakira and Ty by the Love Island UK producers, they could send any one of the bottom three couples home and rest their case with Tommy and Lucy. While discussing the same, Ty revealed that Tommy has his eyes only for Lucy and feels like things just flow "naturally" with her. But as for Lucy, Shakira days, she feels like Tommy is a safe option for her.
Then thinking about Harrison and Lauren, Shakira feels like him and Toni might still have some unfinished business or unresolved feelings and would want to explore all of that. As for Conor and Emma, Ty thinks that they are a bit "difficult."
Ranking their bond, Shakira said that Tommy and Lucy are the closest, as for Harrison, he is Shakira's "best man," and Connor and Emma have no chemistry at all. She said,
"At the end of the day, I'm not going to be in this position and not save the people who I've got the strongest connections with."
Love Island UK season 12 drops on ITV at 9:00 pm. Later, the episodes are available to stream online via ITVX. As for the American citizens, they can watch it via Hulu.
