The recently released Volume 1 of Stranger Things Season 5 continued its tradition of surprising fans, with supernatural twists and jaw-dropping reveals. However, seasoned fans of this beloved sci-fi franchise are gushing over a behind-the-scenes trivia shared by the Duffer Brothers on their social media.

Eager fans who have already binge-watched Part 1 of the final season are familiar with Miss Harris, Holly Wheeler's elementary schoolteacher, who first notices her talking to her imaginary friend, Mr. Whatsit. Miss Harris is played by Hope Hynes Love, the Duffer Brothers' high school drama teacher.

Hope Hynes Love played a meaningful role in inspiring the Duffer Brothers during their early creative years and her inclusion in Stranger Things Season 5 is a tribute to the mentorship that helped shape the series.

More on this in our story.

Stranger Things Season 5: Hope Hynes Love is the Duffer Brothers' high school teacher

While Stranger Things Season 5 has added a roster of new actors, including Jake Connelly as Derek Turnbow, whose adorable charm is taking the Internet by a storm, Hope Hynes Love (who plays Holly's schoolteacher, Miss Harris), holds a special place in the Duffer Brothers' hearts.

Recently, Ross Duffer took to his Instagram to reveal that Holly's schoolteacher, Miss Harris, was played by Hope Hynes Love, who is none other than their high school drama teacher who believed in them and pushed them to chase their dreams. Ross Duffer shared a shot of Hope Hynes Love as Miss Harris from Stranger Things Season 5, along with a wholesome caption:

''She was our high school drama teacher. High school was rough for me and my brother. But Hope saw something in us we didn’t see in ourselves — and she helped give us the confidence to not only survive those four years, but to move to LA and chase our dreams.''
''Shoutout to all the teachers out there making a difference. And please… let’s prioritize the arts in schools. ✌️''

Hope Hynes Love's short IMDB bio mentions that she is a National Board Certified theater educator, who was the Artistic Director at C.E. Jordan High circa before moving to East Chapel Hill High School in 2005. The bio also mentions that Love has spent the last twenty years working as a professional stage actress & director.

Ross Duffer's heartfelt message for Hope Hynes Love suggests that she has had a lasting impact on the brothers, which they honoured by offering her a befitting cameo role in Stranger Things Season 5.

Hope Hynes Love plays Holly's teacher in Stranger Things Season 5

It was only befitting that the Duffer Brothers gave a teacher's role to their former high school teacher in the final chapter of their hit sci-fi saga. While Hope's Miss Harris appears in a handful of scenes, she was involved in an important sequence where her class was being targeted by the evil Vecna, who was disguised as her students' imaginary friend, Mr. Whatsit.

Miss Harris first sees Holly Wheeler talking to somebody in the school's playground in Stranger Things Season 5. When she notices that there is nobody else in the playground, she gets concerned for Holly's mental state and calls her mother to inform her about the incident.

Later, when the military learns that Miss Harris' students are in danger, they quarantine her with her whole classroom to protect them.

Although Hope Hynes Love appeared only briefly in Stranger Things Season 5, her impact behind the scenes was far greater. Her drive and creative spark deeply influenced the Duffer Brothers, helping shape the vision that eventually grew into one of the most celebrated sci-fi series ever made for the small screen.

Stranger Things Season 5 will release its Part 2 on Christmas and the series finale on New Year's Eve on Netflix.
