The Chi, the drama that follows the lives of people living on the South Side of Chicago, has lost one of its most loved characters. In Season 6, viewers met Alicia, the strong-willed mother of Rob and the sister of the late mob boss Quentin Dickinson. She quickly became a loved character with her mission to get revenge for her son's death.
In the season 7 finale, titled Rebirth, fans were shocked when Alicia was murdered in her own home. What's surprising is that she was not killed by the enemies she was targeting, but by Roselyn, a character no one had expected to be the killer. Here’s revisiting Alicia's death in The Chi:
Revisiting Alicia's death in The Chi
Roselyn had not been around for most of season 7 of The Chi. After her husband, Douda, died, she left the city without making any bold moves. Their marriage was an unusual one, more about business than love. They both had other relationships, but never ended their marriage officially. Despite their distance, a sense of loyalty still existed between them.
At first, it looked like Roselyn had no plans to get revenge. But everything changed when she discovered a note left behind by Douda. In that note, he told her to get justice if he ever died under suspicious circumstances. That message motivated her to avenge him.
She came back to Chicago determined to find the person responsible for Douda’s death. Her first stop was Nuck, Douda’s former number two. Nuck had killed Douda to take control of the city's criminal network. But when Roselyn confronted him, he denied any involvement. Instead, he told her that Alicia was behind the murder.
However, that wasn’t exactly the truth. Alicia did have a history with Douda, one filled with hatred. He had killed her brother, Quentin, so she had every reason to kill him. She even teamed up with Bianca, Douda’s girlfriend, in a plan to kill him. But Nuck beat her to it and killed Douda first.
Still, Roselyn was easy to convince. She believed Alicia was responsible and went to confront her. Revisiting Alicia's death in The Chi, during Alicia and Roselyn's intense face-off, Alicia made it clear she didn’t kill Douda but admitted she had hoped for his death. That confession made the situation worse for Alicia. Driven by grief and revenge, Roselyn shot and killed Alicia in her home.
Roselyn escaped the scene before anyone arrived, and Shaad and Victor soon discovered Alicia’s body. When the police showed up, the two men were still on the scene, putting them at risk of being blamed for the murder.
Meanwhile, Nuck felt a wave of relief. Alicia had been closing in on him ever since her son Rob was killed, something Nuck was secretly responsible for. With Alicia out of the picture, he believed his secret was safe. But Roselyn now knows the truth about him and might come for him next.
Alicia’s death was a heartbreaking moment in The Chi. Her loss leaves a major gap and raises new questions about what’s next for the characters. With Roselyn on the loose and Nuck trying to hide his crimes, the next season could bring even more deaths.
