The Chi quickly became a fan favorite TV show with its intriguing plotline and character-driven arcs. The release of each season added more and more characters, which became the fans' favorites.
Among the many well-developed characters of The Chi, Otis "Douda" Perry, or simply Douda’s character, does stand out. It is because of how this character navigates his highs and lows since becoming a part of the main cast after The Chi season four. He is the leader of the fearsome 63rd Street Mob. However, things take a completely different turn when he is killed at the end of season six.
Who killed Douda in The Chi?
Otis "Douda" Perry’s fate takes a turn at the end of season six of The Chi. His bloodied body after he is shot leaves a lasting impact on the viewers. He was ruthless. His manipulative behaviour made him the villain of the show. Yet, one cannot deny that his character did have an intrigue which could not be ignored. He was a powerful figure in the criminal world.
Hence, he did have enemies and was shockingly killed by his former right-hand man, Isaih "Nuck" Rogers, played by Cortez Smith in The Chi. Nuck orchestrated the power grab. He eventually becomes the leader of the 63rd Street Mob, which was led by Douda before.

The shooting sequence was not only intense but also quite shocking. Many viewers have pointed out that the scene was also quite abrupt, as Douda was the central figure of the TV show, and killing off such a crucial figure this abruptly was a reason for concern.
In episode fifteen, we see Douda beat Nuck, which also becomes a reason for Nuck to kill him. Douda’s behavior in the past, especially the manner in which he treated people in general, including Nuck’s family, was also a reason for Nuck.
Nuck not only killed Douda and became the leader of the gang, but also killed Rob. Rob defying Nuck, which he did not tolerate.
Douda’s actions eventually led to his fate. It might be surprising, but it was supposed to happen. His death marked a shift in the power dynamics of the criminal element in the TV show.

Douda was not a one-dimensional character. The layers and blend of ambition and street leadership he embodies paved the way for many storylines in this TV show. The Chi’s co-showrunner, Justin Hillian, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, talks about Douda’s fate,
“Well, you were born and raised in Chicago, and you know that no matter how powerful somebody is, if you make too many enemies, one of them is going to be the wrong enemy. And we just wanted to keep it as authentic and true to the city and story we’re telling as possible. At a certain point, here is where we got to stop, brother. It was the end of his road.”
Hillan’s words capture how the creators could execute such a promising TV show. The well-thought-out execution of each and every character’s fate shows us why this show has such a huge fan base. The end of season six saw the death of two crucial characters. These deaths shaped the future of the upcoming seasons.
