Irish Blood is a crime drama series starring Alicia Silverstone, that has received a lot of rave reviews. The show premiered on August 11, 2025 and is available to stream on Acorn TV. Veteran actress Silverstone is one of the executive producers of the Irish Blood and other cast members in the show include Jason O’Mara, Simone Kirby, and others.

The series is about a successful divorce lawyer in Los Angeles, Fiona Sharpe, played by Alicia Silverstone, whose life turns upside down when she gets a letter from her estranged father Declan (O’Mara). Even though Sharpe is angry that her father left her and her mother during her childhood, she decides to go to Ireland and confront him.

However, once she arrives, she finds herself getting enmeshed in a web of lies and deceit and finds out that her father actually loved her and left her so that she could stay safe. Here’s a look at Declan’s character and his death in Irish Blood.

After Fiona Sharpe gets a letter from her estranged father Declan from Ireland, she decides to leave her successful job in Los Angeles behind and confront her estranged father for leaving her. However, she does not get a chance to confront him as he has already died. However, Declan has left Sharpe some clues about the criminal activity in town and nudges her to find the truth behind his mysterious death.

Therefore, Fiona realizes that her father only left her so that she could stay safe as Declan was involved in something dangerous. Sharpe knows that her father’s death was not an accident and she decides to find out about her father’s death. During the first episode of the show, Sharpe find out that her father has left her a suitcase and it contains vital information.

The suitcase reveals that Declan was investigating criminal activity in town like horse theft, international buyers, and more. Therefore, he was on the verge of exposing all this before he mysteriously fell from a cliff. Sharpe comes across the name of Patsy Burgess, who she believes is the person behind her father’s death.

In Irish Blood, Declan’s briefcase gives important clues about Declan and the investigation he was uncovering. It is the same suitcase Declan had when Fiona was a child and inside the briefcase, Sharpe finds out that her father has kept things like the action figure that she loved as a child, it also has a video message from Declan. This is important as Declan talks about the investigation he is doing and tells Fiona that if he dies, it will not be an accident. The case also has a horseshoe.

Who killed Declan in Irish Blood

Declan mentions in the video message to Fiona that his death is not an accident and provides her clues about what he was about to uncover. Therefore, someone must have killed Declan to stop him from uncovering the truth. In the show, Fiona believes that it is Patsy Burgess who killed her father himself or had someone else do it.

While all the family members and authorities think that Declan’s death was an accident, Fiona, her Irish grandmother, and Declan’s mother—all believe that this is not the case. Fiona strongly believes that her father called her to Ireland for a reason and that was the case that he was investigating. She firmly believes that Declan was targeted and killed by the criminal masterminds of the city and wants to uncover the truth.

Further, Fiona is abducted and held at gunpoint and threatened to discontinue her investigations. Therefore, someone has surely killed Declan and wants to keep things covered. The show is still airing and viewers will have to wait and see as to who killed Declan.
