The Buccaneers Season 2 ended on a high note with the announcement of Kit’s arrival in the show. After the whole Nan, Theo, and Lizzie situation, Theo chooses love over his title and decides to divorce Nan.

He makes a very public announcement of this decision and renounces the title of the Duke of Tintagel. As Nan is left surprised, the Dowager Duchess of Tintagel has already planned her next move to maintain control over the estate.

Dowager says she has written to Kit to take up the Duke’s title. Since the name has been mentioned for the first time, the audience is left to wonder who Kit is in The Buccaneers Season 2. It is then revealed that Kit is Theo’s half-brother, who will soon enter his life to stir up trouble.

Kit is Theo’s half-brother in The Buccaneers Season 2

In The Buccaneers Season 2 finale, it is established that Theo has a half-brother named Kit. Theo’s father was not loyal to Dowager and had affairs outside marriage. Kit is the son he had out of wedlock. Meanwhile, Theo is not even aware of his existence.

When Theo makes the astonishing choice to renounce his title so that he can divorce Nan and be with Lizzie, Dowager knows that her family will lose their power on the estate. That is why she writes to Kit, so that he can be the next Duke of Tintagel.

When she tells about her plan to Reede Robinson, he says Kit is dangerous, hinting that the character is going to create chaos when he officially joins the show in the potential Season 3. However, Dowager is more concerned about keeping Tintagel and does not mind making this risky choice of calling upon Kit.

What the creators have revealed about Kit so far

Although the actor playing Kit has not been revealed yet, The Buccaneers Season 2 finale gives a glimpse of the character as he rushes toward Tintagel on his horse. Executive producer Beth Willis has divulged some details about Kit in an interview with Decider. She said:

“We know at the end of Episode 8 that Theo’s late father obviously was not faithful to the Dowager and did have a child out of wedlock. The Dowager’s obviously had some kind of relationship or contact with him over the years and has told Reed that she thinks he’s trouble.”

Willis also explained how the arrival of Kit means more trouble for Theo and his family, as he would be the ‘worst possible version of a Duke’. However, Dowarger still made the choice to save Tintagel:

“He’s trouble, is the tease, I suppose. “[The Dowager] obviously hasn’t allowed him to be anywhere near Tintagel until this moment. But it’s just testament to the Dowager’s commitment to the institution that even if she has to bring the worst possible version of a Duke into town, she absolutely will do if it means she gets to save her beloved Tintagel. So just trouble ahead and complicated, messy relationships and a past that needs to be unpacked and is going to be full of secrets and lies. Yeah, trouble ahead.”

When asked who will play Kit in the upcoming season of the show, the makers have hinted that the actor is going to be ‘someone handsome.’ The show has not been renewed for a Season 3 as of now, but its continuation seems likely owing to its popularity.
