Mayor of Kingstown is definitely taking the stakes higher for the fourth season of the series. The past complications take an even darker turn in the new episodes of the series. It cannot be denied that the aspect of a character-driven story in Mayor of Kingstown adds a layer of intrigue to it.
Amongst the many characters in Mayor of Kingstown, Merle Callahan’s character truly leaves quite an impact. Right after his introduction in the third season of the series, it could be understood that he is not someone to be trifled with.
Who is Merle Callahan on Mayor of Kingstown?
Merle Callahan’s introduction in Mayor of Kingstown set the stage for some intense thrills. Unlike the AB leaders, Merle Callahan knew how to use his intellect for his own benefit. Besides being extremely powerful, he was also extremely manipulative.
He could easily make someone his follower with his extensive skills. This can also be seen in the way he manipulates Mike. Mike also quickly understands that Merle Callahan can be difficult to deal with. The manner in which Callahan is able to easily get transferred from Millhaven to Anchor Bay quickly, without any hassle, shows the influence he has on others.
Right after Callahan stepped into Kingstown, it was evident that things could easily go wrong at any moment. Even the COs were ready to follow Callahan’s orders, as can be seen when Carney gets beaten up. However, the main significance of Callahan begins in the fourth season. He becomes a danger to Mike after Kyle gets imprisoned.
In the first episode of Mayor of Kingstown, Kyle gets beaten up badly in prison. His life in prison is definitely not going to be an easy one. However, things get further complicated at the end of the first episode. It is revealed that Callahan is in a cell near Kyle’s. Callahan appreciates Kyle’s decision not to go to the infirmary, as he would be killed there.
In the second episode of Mayor of Kingstown Season 4, Callahan begins to speak with Kyle about settling in. He tells him that it is not easy. One of the inmates kills himself, but according to Callahan, it is just a normal Monday. It can be understood how accustomed he is to death and bloodshed.
While Kyle was suffering because of the injuries, Callahan gave him cigarettes to help him distract himself from the pain. As the second episode progresses, Kyle and Callahan begin to grow a type of understanding, though it cannot be understood whether it is all part of Callahan’s elaborate manipulative plans or not.
He even tells Kyle that he is impressed by the reach Kyle has as the one who attacked him, “met his maker”. In the third episode of Mayor of Kingstown, Kyle and Callhan begin to have more and more conversations. Their bond grows further in the fourth episode of this season, as Kyle begins to writhe in pain. Callahan suggests he to “focus on feeling nothing”. He then gives him a small piece of mirror. When Kyle asks him about it, he says that it is “vision” and he can see what is going on.
It still cannot be ascertained whether Callahan’s words are genuine or if this is just another game, and Kyle is going to get a taste of trouble soon because of him. This can only be understood after the new episodes come in. Richard Brake’s performance as Merle Callahan truly leaves an impact.
