The newest Netflix thriller series, Billionaires’ Bunker, exceeds the expectations of viewers in terms of bringing a fresh storyline to life. Though the series begins with the aspect of survival in a post-apocalyptic world, soon secrets unfold, and it is nothing that we, the viewers, were expecting it to be. It is much darker and grueling and truly leaves a lasting impact.

Billionaires’ Bunker features the story of multiple billionaires coming together to protect themselves inside a bunker when a nuclear war strikes. The lead of the storyline in Max is played by the very talented new actor, Pau Simón. Though Pau Simón did not work with many movies and TV shows, as he is a relatively new entry in the industry, the talent and depth that he brings to the screen prove that he will be booked and busy from here on.

Who plays Max in Billionaires’ Bunker?

The very talented Pau Simón, who takes on the role of Max in Billionaires’ Bunker, worked in only one other project besides this series. He worked on a 2024 series named Nudes.

In the series, his character was not that of the lead, but his performance as Dani left a massive impact. Even though it is truly rare to see new actors completely embodying their roles, Pau Simón does not find any difficulty in depicting his role as Max. Rather, Max’s character feels genuine and authentic.

Max in Billionaires’ Bunker

Max’s character in Billionaires’ Bunker comes with his own set of troubles and complications. The series starts with showing Max’s situation in prison. He was incarcerated for drinking and driving, which led to the death of his lover. In the early days, when he was in jail, he was constantly tormented by the other prisoners. However, Max struck back eventually.

He refused to be constantly bullied by others and eventually developed his fighting skills in the rough environment of the prison. When he comes out of prison, he finds himself back in yet another enclosed space. His father takes him to the bunker, saying that it is to protect themselves from war. Initially, Max believed the situation.

However, slowly, he understood that there is more to it than meets the eye. He was absolutely right. For the bunkers and the whole scenario of the war were nothing but just a facade, and they were being tormented for much darker reasons. In the end, Max refused to be imprisoned inside the bunker despite the prison being filled with world-class amenities.

He sought freedom. He, along with Asia, with whom he initially had an antagonistic relationship, hatches a plan to escape the bunker. Now, Asia and Max go way back. The reason Max went to prison was because of the accident that he caused while drunk driving, during which Asia’s sister died. Asia held a grudge against him for being the reason for her beloved sister’s death.

However, soon things begin to change between them. Asia and Max, while working together towards their united goal, form a bond. Asia begins to have feelings for Max despite her initial hatred towards him. Max eventually hatches a plan to use explosives to breach the security and escape this bunker. However, his path was strewn with hindrances by the people who planned it all. In the end, Max’s dedication brings results.

He is finally able to escape the bunker’s enclosure and see light. Now, the series ends with a cliffhanger, and we are yet to see whether Max sees the outside or just another facade. Though the ups and downs, especially involving the deep emotions that Max resonates with, are the result of how deftly Pau Simón handles his character. Max’s internal battles, which he constantly fights to keep moving forward, come to light through Pau Simón’s depiction.
