Sarita Choudhury’s career on the big screen began in 1991. She debuted with Mira Nair's movie, Mississippi Masala, opposite Denzel Washington. Since her debut, she has developed as an actress with time.

In Mississippi Masala, she has been noted for bringing out the nuances of her character. Right after the release of Mississippi Masala, And Just Like That’s Sarita Choudhury turned busy. She would go on to work in Wild West (1992), The House of the Spirits (1993), Fresh Kill (1994), The Perez Family (1995), Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love (1996), and many more films.

Choudhury would go on to garner global fame on television, too, with her performance in the thriller series, Homeland. She even received a nomination at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for her performance in the show.

Speaking about her career, which spans over decades now, Sarita Choudhury told EasternEye,

“How the business perceives us is something I have never concerned myself with. I just try to beat the odds of rejection by preparing a lot for auditions and hopefully changing someone’s mind. Minds and the gatekeepers have to change. It’s an exciting time, it’s still slow, but we are all part of this change.”

Her optimism and sheer dedication to the craft are surely worth appreciating.
