Palm Royale Season 2 Episode 7 is titled Maxine Plays Dead. It dropped on Apple TV on December 24, 2025.

Fans have been obsessing over Maxine’s “death” and Norma being extra sinister, but the real jaw-dropper is all about Jed, the quiet guy who is always hanging around the Palm Royale country club, looking harmless. Turns out, he is not just a background character; he is actually a slick con man who has been playing half the women in Palm Beach for fools.

Palm Royale Season 2 Episode 7 ending rips the mask right off Jed. He is not just working at the club for fun. He has been targeting rich ladies, one by one, with a scheme that’s kind of genius (and evil).

Jed (Ryan Dorsey) had been lurking around Season 2 for 6 episodes, but nobody clocked what he was up to until everything exploded in Palm Royale Season 2 Episode 7. The show’s creator, Abe Sylvia (known for Dead to Me and The Eyes of Tammy Faye), created a villain with a different flavor from Norma. Norma is murdering without subtlety, but Jed’s game is sneakier. He hunts for rich women who are lonely enough to buy his act, pulls them in with fake romance, and then bleeds them dry, money-wise.

Mary, Julia Duffy’s character, one of the Palm Beach ladies who always seems a bit out of step, makes a crucial revelation after escaping Norma’s clutches. She runs to Virginia and Maxine and starts rambling about her “bootlegger,” which, up until now, everyone thought was either a ghost, a metaphor, or maybe just Mary being Mary. But the bootlegger is Jed.

The bootlegger connection is particularly significant. During the course of Palm Royale Season 2, Mary has been talking about this person with romantic desire and has even gone to the extent of depicting private moments in ways that other characters have considered nothing more than her imagination. Turns out, Mary wasn’t just a hopeless romantic with an overactive imagination. She was actually tangled up with Jed, the scammer.

TV Fanatic even joked about her “Miss Havisham-ing” it up in those tunnels, dropping all these passionate, oddly detailed stories. Now, knowing it was Jed all along, you can see just how far he is willing to go. He is not just sweet-talking these women; he is literally building fake identities just to mess with them.

Palm Royale Season 2 Episode 7 lays Jed bare. He slips in and out of scenes like he is some sort of background furniture, handing Evelyn a drink like he’s Mr. Nice Guy, eavesdropping when nobody is watching, popping up right when he is needed. It’s all so calculated. He is not just some friendly face; he is a predator scoping out his meal. He watches, learns what makes people tick (or break), and then moves in for the kill when they are at their lowest.

Take Evelyn, for example. She has just had a blowout with Eddie over that insane eight-million-dollar tax. She is hiding out, totally wrecked, and there’s Jed, trying to play hero and “make her day better.” That’s not a coincidence. He knows exactly when to pounce.

Now, the Mitzi situation is his masterpiece, if you ask us. He has fooled everyone, including Douglas, into believing Mitzi’s pregnancy is all sunshine and rainbows. But the bomb drops when we find out Mitzi has been secretly talking to someone and running errands all season. Jed has been running the show behind the curtain the whole time, pulling strings and using Mitzi as his puppet.

The end of the episode opens the door to major plot twists for the rest of the season. According to DMTalkies, following the discoveries about Jed and also Norma being Robert’s mother, Virginia and Maxine swiftly conclude that Norma is going to Switzerland. Why Switzerland? Well, that’s where Douglas keeps nagging Maxine to fly out and sign off on all that Dellacorte cash.

Let’s not forget that back in Palm Royale Season 2 Episode 6, Dinah started getting creepy little notes, and by Episode 7, they are from Marjorie Merriweather Post. Marjorie is blackmailing Dinah: grab a Fabergé egg from Switzerland, or she will spill all about Dinah hooking up with Nixon.

Now, this Switzerland plot is pulling all these plots together: Jed’s secrets, Norma’s getaway, and Marjorie’s egg hunt. You can just see the villains lining up for a showdown in the Alps.

But what’s Jed even after? Is he some lone wolf, or just a cog in a bigger scam machine? His relationship with Mitzi, his manipulation of Mary, and his targeting of Evelyn suggest someone with experience in long-term cons. And then there’s the pregnancy twist. If Mitzi is actually carrying his kid, Jed might be trying to worm his way into the Dellacorte inheritance through Douglas’s supposed heir.

Palm Royale Season 2 is now streaming on Apple TV.
