Who is Rex Alba on The Great American Recipe Season 4? 

Rex Alba is diversifying his resume by starring as a contestant on The Great American Recipe, a culinary reality TV show, after having been a star on American Ninja Warrior earlier in 2017.

This show features various cooks from their homes in the country who have to compete within time limits and other restrictions. Talking about the same and comparing The Great American Recipe to anything that he has ever done before, Rex said,

"It's [American Ninja Warrior] nothing compared to this. You have all these ideas, and then they say you have to cook it in an hour."

The Great American Recipe features eight contestants who cook the dish of their own culture and bring diversity to the kitchen. It represents, on a smaller scale, how diverse America is and how the people living here are a blend of a variety of cultures.

Alejandro Ramos is set for his hosting duties. As for the judges, the panel included Tiffany Derry and Timothy Hollongsworth, and Francis Lam.

The format of the show is simple. With every new episode that drops out weekly, the judges assign two rounds of competition among the contestants, and by the end of it, decide who has emerged victorious for that day.

The bottom cook is eliminated, and by the last episode, fans will get to see the Top 3 chefs compete against each other in a head-to-head culinary battle.

The Great American Recipe - Rex Alba discussed the Filipino culture and cuisine

Rex Alba, talking about The Great American Recipe, said that he had decided to bring his culture of the Philippines into his food in the kitchen. He revealed that he grew up in Asia in a very small city called Tagbilaran.

Here, he has learnt the cuisine and lived through it all. However, in 2005, as fate would have it, Rex Alba came to the United States with his wife, who is a nurse.

Sharing what makes food from the Philippines different and unique, Alba said,

"What makes Filipino food unique is each dish has its own story. Having 7,461 islands in the Philippines, we make each dish unique from region to region. Every plate has a heart, every bite has a soul, and every moment you share a Filipino dish is worth savoring."

This is a comforting thought for Alba, who is the proud President of the Philippine American Society of Central Ohio. However, his fans who had been following him since his days of American Ninja Warrior were a bit shocked upon learning that Alba would be starring in The Great American Recipe.

He has a YouTube channel on which he can be seen posting cooking videos. It is called Bisdak Chef. He also owns a restaurant in the Philippines, which makes traditional recipes, as well as some that his father used to make.
