When Netflix launched its live-action One Piece in 2023, it felt like an impossible treasure had been pulled from the sea. Against every doubt, the series captured the spirit of Eiichiro Oda’s legendary manga and introduced a new wave of fans to the Straw Hat Pirates.

Season 1 of the One Piece live-action series sailed to the top of Netflix’s Global Top 10 and stayed there for weeks, proving that this sprawling tale of dreams and freedom could thrive in live action. Now the horizon is shifting again. One Piece: Into the Grand Line is coming in 2026 with even greater scale and a renewal for Season 3 already locked.

This next voyage will push deeper into uncharted waters. The Grand Line is a sea where maps lie, monsters stir and empires wage secret wars. Netflix has been revealing a flood of new characters who will shape this era of the story. Some will become trusted companions, some will betray, and some will hunt the Straw Hat Pirates with unrelenting force.

Here’s the full guide to every face joining One Piece Season 2 and why each matters as the adventure leaves the safety of the East Blue behind.

The returning Straw Hat Pirates

At the heart of One Piece is still the crew that changed everything. Iñaki Godoy returns as Monkey D. Luffy, a rubber-bodied dreamer now stepping into his destiny as captain. Mackenyu wields Zoro’s three swords with unmatched resolve, Emily Rudd brings Nami’s sharp mind and quiet strength, Jacob Romero Gibson keeps Usopp’s tales and courage alive, and Taz Skylar fires up Sanji’s charm and fists. Their bond is the anchor as One Piece prepares to face a wilder sea and the harsh politics of the Grand Line.

New allies setting the course

Every great voyage needs unexpected friends, and this season delivers them in waves. Tony Tony Chopper finally appears, voiced by Mikaela Hoover, a tiny reindeer with a doctor’s heart and genius. Netflix has gone full CGI to keep his wide-eyed wonder intact while making him feel alive in this world.

Guiding the crew’s first leap into the Grand Line is Crocus, portrayed by Clive Russell, a weathered lighthouse keeper and healer who knows how treacherous Reverse Mountain can be.

On Drum Island, the tone of One Piece deepens. Dalton, played by Ty Keogh, is a warrior who turned his back on tyranny to protect his people. His steadfast bravery shapes the heart of Chopper’s past. Mark Harelik embodies Dr. Hiriluk, the wild, hopeful doctor whose dream of curing despair itself still drives Chopper forward. Over it all stands Dr. Kureha, brought to life by Katey Sagal. Kureha is fierce, brilliant and sharp-tongued, the kind of mentor who leaves scars and wisdom in equal measure.

Farther into the sea, Alabasta rises. King Nefertari Cobra, played by Sendhil Ramamurthy, rules a desert kingdom trembling under hidden enemies. His daughter Vivi arrives first as Miss Wednesday, a Baroque Works operative hiding secrets that could save or doom her land. Charithra Chandran steps into this complex role, bringing to life a princess who risks everything to fight from within the shadows.

Baroque Works takes center stage

One Piece Season 2 unleashes the full force of Baroque Works, the criminal network that will hunt, manipulate and ambush the Straw Hat Pirates across the Grand Line. Joe Manganiello becomes Crocodile, a calculating predator who bends kingdoms to his will and sees Luffy as little more than a nuisance to crush. Beside him stands Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday, known to long-time readers as Nico Robin, a strategist wrapped in mystery and danger.

Around them gathers an army of strange and deadly agents. David Dastmalchian brings the scheming Mr. 3 to life. Camrus Johnson’s Mr. 5 wields explosive power with reckless confidence. Jazzara Jaslyn floats into chaos as the deceptively sweet Miss Valentine, and Daniel Lasker plays the unpredictable Mr. 9. Sophia Anne Caruso adds subtle menace as Marianne, the painterly Miss Goldenweek, whose ability to twist emotions may unbalance even fearless pirates.

On the frozen heights of Drum Island, Anton David Jeftha appears as Kuromarimo and Mark Penwill as Chess, loyal soldiers to the vile Wapol. Rob Colletti embodies Wapol himself, a tyrant who feeds on greed and cruelty and whose fall sets the stage for Chopper’s greatest test.

The Marines do not stay silent either. Callum Kerr’s Smoker enters as a relentless hunter who will not grant Luffy mercy, while Julia Rehwald’s Tashigi brings determination and moral complexity, chasing a pirate who defies her idea of justice.

“That character in the end is a very important character moving into our next season, and as Garp says to [Luffy] as well, you’re on your own. While Garp may have been the Marine who was testing Luffy, not every Marine is going to give him any leeway because of who his grandfather might be. And so we’re going to see this very powerful, very driven marine as a major antagonist moving forward in the story,” said Matt Owens, the showrunner for the series.

Faces that open the world even wider

Beyond the immediate battles, Season 2 hints at forces far greater than any single arc. Rigo Sanchez appears as Dragon, the most wanted man alive and Luffy’s elusive father, a figure whose revolution threatens the balance of the entire world. His arrival suggests that One Piece will soon sail past treasure hunts into rebellion and destiny.

Yonda Thomas plays Igaram, the devoted captain of Alabasta’s royal guard, standing as shield and strategist for Vivi. James Hiroyuki Liao portrays Ipponmatsu, the modest Loguetown sword merchant who briefly intersects with Zoro’s path and grounds the story before the sea turns strange.

What this means for One Piece Season 2

With this surge of new allies, villains and shadowy forces, One Piece: Into the Grand Line promises its boldest storytelling yet. Loguetown ends the East Blue saga with destiny closing in.

Reverse Mountain becomes a gateway to a sea where no map can be trusted. Whisky Peak and Little Garden throw assassins, giants and traps into the crew’s path. Drum Island delivers heartbreak and hope through Chopper’s origin. Alabasta rises as the first truly grand war against a criminal empire that wants to topple kings and rewrite power itself.

The arrival of Dragon makes clear that the story is no longer just about one boy’s dream. It's about freedom and the cost of chasing it when entire governments, secret networks and ancient legends stand in the way. Themes of leadership, friendship and loyalty will press down on Luffy harder than ever.

This is where One Piece stops being a lighthearted voyage and begins to feel like a rebellion carried by friends who dare to call themselves a crew.

Release window and what’s next

Netflix has confirmed that One Piece: Into the Grand Line will premiere in 2026, with Season 3 already moving toward production. New casting news could still surface before the release, and fans are already speculating about when characters like Ace will appear.

The Grand Line is opening at last. With this crew of doctors, kings, assassins, tyrants and revolutionaries, Season 2 of One Piece promises to feel bigger, stranger and more fiercely alive than anything the live-action series has attempted so far.
