Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: Ken Jennings opens up about the show, his previous time, and more
In his July 30, 2025, interview with Variety, Ken Jennings opened up about being on the show and how it felt to witness the "confetti drop." Recalling his previous participation on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, he said he did not win back then.
"I think I left around 100k, so this was very exciting. I've never actually seen the confetti drop," he added.
When asked about the difference that made while participating alongside Matt Damon, Ken shared:
"I think what we've learned is that Matt Damon is worth 900,000 extra dollars when I play Millionaire."
Recalling how he agreed with show host Jimmy Kimmel about participating one more time, Ken Jennings shared the incident. He recalled seeing Jimmy at a cancer research fundraiser at UCLA. He talked about getting a "real a-lister" on the show, while Jen would be the "kind of the ringer."
While Ken thought Jimmy would forget all about it. However, he did not forget and somehow had Matt Damon agree as well. Jeopardy! host also confessed how he had never met Matt Damon before the show. However, they "hit it off" backstage during the filming.
He confessed how he thought that Matt was a guy who "seems like just a normal guy" who is secretly really smart. And after playing the game, he learned that it was actually true.
Coming to the $1 million question, which had "susurrus" as the correct answer, it was quite interesting. The question was to describe the word, i.e., a sound that is created as leaves blow in the wind. Four options were
- Apricity,
- Petrichor,
- Susurrus,
- Eudaemonia.
While Ken Jennings had an idea about Susurrus being the correct answer, they went with the 50/50 lifeline. After that, they went with Susurrus as their final choice, which won them the grand prize.
