Amir Arison's exit from The Blacklist Season 9 stunned viewers since the role of Aram Mojtabai has been integral to the show for several years.

The show gave Arison over ten years to establish his talent. He is now pursing a longstanding dream. His Broadway debut was a dream come true, and he couldn't pass it up.

However, he didn't exactly nurse a deep desire for theatre when the opportunity came up. Arison recalled his previous theatre experience in the latest edition of Variety's theater podcast, Stagecraft, and said

“I didn’t want to do much stage anymore,”

He added,

“I remember just depleting myself completely and not [being] sure if the rewards outweighed the toll.”

Arison praised the cast and crew, saying that being on the series was a blessing. The authors also gave Aram a dignified goodbye rather than an abrupt conclusion, allowing him to return to the scene in the future. With his departure, he has pledged to grow and pursue his passion.

A childhood dream finally realized

Amir Arison had a dream of performing on Broadway since he was a boy, and when the opportunity to play in The Kite Runner presented itself, he knew it was too serious to pass up. Almost ten years into The Blacklist, he realized theater was one of his passions. The stage appeared to be a natural progression from the years when television cameras were present.

This part rekindled his passion for live performing, although he had previously left the theater before joining The Blacklist. He confirmed that alienation to stage work seemed as hard as before, but The Kite Runner represented something exceptional. Having secured stability in his television career, Arison took up the challenge. He had to make a crucial choice about his future when season ten of The Blacklist was announced.

The perfect exit for Aram Mojtabai

The Blacklist provided Aram with a good farewell. Instead of a dramatic or sad finale, he chose to get out of danger and live a normal life. When he went to Brooklyn with mundane delights like a bicycle, pizza, and the city, it was clear that the character had finally found peace.

The show has previously discussed mental health and personal welfare, so the disagreement was not in vain. Amir Arison remarked that the appropriate time came spontaneously, and the writers helped him pursue his Broadway goal. The series did not rule out future guest appearances by not killing off Aram. Thus, the finale appears to be emotional and hopeful.

Career growth beyond The Blacklist

Amir Arison utilized his exit from The Blacklist as an opportunity to grow as an actor and pursue other challenges. His performance in The Kite Runner gave him a chance to explore more emotions than he frequently portrayed as Aram.

The show gave him the credentials to enter the world of Broadway. He took the risk, and his theater season from July to October required him to leave the series.
