Star Trek: Legacy was supposed to offer a follow-up chapter through a potential spin-off to Star Trek: Picard, which ran for three seasons and concluded in April 2023.
It was supposed to carry forward Captain Seven of Nine's (Jeri Ryan) character for another adventure. However, since then, there hasn't been a concrete update.
There were also reports suggesting a Star Trek: The Next Generation cast reunion in Star Trek: Legacy. But it seems unlikely, considering the recent comments from Marina Sirtis, who played Deanna Troi in both shows. In a recent Instagram post, she answered a fan's question about the chances of her return as Deanna or the cast's reunion. She said,
“I think that the opportunity was missed at the end of Picard, if we were going to continue with TNG. I think that would have been the opportunity to do that, but, obviously, that didn’t happen. So the chances of all of us getting together again, I think, are pretty zero to none.”
“I’m not saying I would never go back. I think that if they asked me to be on one of the other shows, depending on the role or the storyline, I would absolutely consider it. I mean, I wouldn’t go back just to say, ‘Captain, he’s hiding something.’ But, you know, if it was meatier than that, I would definitely give it my consideration. I’ve never said I would never go back to Star Trek.”
Will Star Trek: Legacy ever happen? Here's what the showrunner has said

Terry Matalas, who was a showrunner on Star Trek: Picard, has been busy working on Marvel Studios' Vision Quest. He is also busy with some other projects, according to ScreenRant. So, the chances of his return to the Star Trek: Legacy universe are low. The latest update on this topic comes from Matalas himself. During his appearance at the STLV in August, he told TrekMovie,
"There was a moment in which I was pretty inspired, in which I just sort of spit out 30 pages over a couple of weeks, not for anybody necessarily to see, just in case one day it happened. I knew what the first 20 minutes of it was.”
He further added,
“I can’t really talk, because it’s not a thing, so it’s hard to talk about. But it did have to do with the Klingon Empire.”
Before him, in May, Jeri Ryan, who played Seven of Nine, spoke about the possibility of her return to Star Trek: Legacy, where she could have reportedly been the lead. She said,
"You know what, one thing that this entire Star Trek experience has taught me is never say never. Because I was sure that I had said goodbye to this character and walked away from this franchise many years ago, and I never, ever, ever in a million years expected that I would be back playing her on Picard. So, who knows? Never say never."
Based on their responses, there's little hope for Star Trek: Legacy, even though Ryan seems interested in returning to the universe and Matalas has an idea how to work on this chapter.
