Dustin Hurt has succeeded his father's business after he passed away and is managing the crew as well as the extractions on Gold Rush: White Water. However, he has found himself in a tough spot recently and revealed a burden of almost $100,000 in debt that he owed against his Nugget Creek.
This means that if Dustin Hurt does not receive the money, he might have to sell his entire unit and whatever gold he has been able to capture so far. In last week's episode of Gold Rush: White Water, the crew worked extra hard to ensure they gathered enough debris and concentrates to wash off the gold. The narrator explained,
"The crew is desperate to prove that gold in strait can provide the $100,000 of gold Dustin needs to avoid having to sell his Nugget Creek"
Commenting on the situation, Wes said that he likes to go hunting for gold in the Strait. He thinks that the concentration that they have collected till now is going to have a "ton of gold" in it.
Gold Rush: White Water - Why is Dustin stressed?
They are waiting to proceed with it all and see how it turns out. The Gold Rush: White Water cast member also explains that Dustin is stressed that they are not making enough gold for the money he needs. Thus, it falls upon them to "motivate" him to keep going and work.
In this segment, after they process the debris and clean it up, it is seen that there are specks of gold inside it. However, they are still not very much, and Dustin looks disappointed.
Wes, trying to lift the spirit, says that these specks of gold have given him hope, and he knows that the count will only go up from here. He comments that if this much gold can be found in fast-running water, they can only imagine the amount that they are bound to find at bedrock.
In this week's episode of Gold Rush: White Water, the crew seems to be disappointed yet again. They reveal how it is not looking good for them right now, and winter is about to set in as the mountains have started to be covered in snow.
Dustin reveals that they are out of time. For the day's mission, Jane is going to dive into the water. He said,
"We're desperate right now. We have not found enough gold"
The Gold Rush: White Water narrator took over and explained,
"With a $100,000 owed to his creditors, and facing the loss of Nugget Creek Clane, Dustin's mining future will be decided in what could be less than 2 weeks."
Starting the machinery and work, the crew gets busy while Dustin says that he does not have a backup plan, and if things do not work out, he might have to shut down this business.
However, they hit a roadblock yet again when it is revealed that they are out of gas, and with just one diver, they might not be able to go through the entire day of extractions. Dustin blames his luck and gets to work as well.
