The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 brought forth a unique addition to the plot. The arrival of the Ents in season 2, episode 3, added a layer of intrigue. The series depicted the anger they felt.

Theo and Isildur went to the forest area; however, things took a complete turn when huge tree-like, powerful creatures arrived and took Theo with them.

When Arondir and Isildur search for Theo, they find out that the Ents have captured Theo. The Ent revealed that the reason for their anger was the immense destruction that Adar’s army was causing.

In the third episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2, we see the destruction caused by the army to the forest. Chopping down trees to clear a path and gathering resources fueled the arrival of the Ents. The destruction of the trees was a direct attack on the Ents’ way of life.

The Ents were created to protect the trees. It cannot be denied that in any form of war, the trees in a forest often become the first to be attacked. Hence, the chopping down of the trees triggered the anger of the Ents.

Season 2 delves into the vulnerability of the Ents. Though the Ents are initially hostile towards Arondir and Isildur, it is only because they think they are a threat. However, soon they understand their situation.

The Ents' fury makes them take action, but it is not in an indecisive manner. Rather, they are highly intelligent creatures, becoming hostile only when their wildlife is threatened. After Arondir promises not to harm more trees in the future, the Ents release Theo without harming him.

The sorrow and fury of the Ents stem from a deeply personal and tragic place. The forest is a part of them. Through the sorrow of the Entwife, the series perfectly captures the essence of emotions.

There is a profound sense of loss. The act of cutting down trees is a violation of the deepest kind to them. It is a violent act against the very essence of their being. The contrast between the deep sorrow they feel and the explosive anger towards the wrongdoers makes the plotline all the more powerful. The peaceful nature of the Ents gets overwhelmed by the acts of the army.

Arondir’s apology to the Ents resonates on a profound level. He acknowledges the grief and anger that the Ents feel. It shows his understanding of the dangerous act against nature. His act of empathy allows the Ents to calm their fury and divulge more about themselves.

This whole scene in the fourth episode leaves a lasting impact. This is especially true because of the depiction of the significance of nature, which we often forget in the real world as humans.
